Biography

Lloyd was an adrenaline seeker even from a really young age. Getting into fights at school and being a bully not to assert dominance or relieve pent up aggression, but just to enjoy winning and losing. He had other bad habits too, breaking rules and being a rebel just because he enjoyed the thrill of him possibly getting caught. Eventually things crashed all around him and he found a new constructive way to let loose: boxing classes. He had a pretty strong knack for it, and as an adult he decided he wanted to go to the big leagues.

But, despite his skill, finding a way to prove himself to a manager proved difficult. While they were less skillle, the people who got "in" had connections and money Lloyd did not have. So, he made a deal with a local crime boss, Sirina Darkflame. He helped out and ran security on jobs that he was sure was shady, but he absolutely did not, nor wanted to, ask what was going on. He got out as soon as he could, albeit sooner than Sirina would have preferred, and was paid for his jobs with a good word and a large income.

He regrets his actions, but it's in the past and now he's a pretty famous boxer! And that kept him pretty happy for some time, until the thrill of being a boxer began to fade... It was then he experienced his first major defeat in hand to hand combat, against Amvira, who wanted to recruit him for Lydia's quest to rescue the captured Capricorn. Now, his thrill is renewed, fighting against criminals, including the ones who hired him at the start of his boxing career. And, it turns out having friends is pretty great.

Relationships

Bonita

Bonita and Lloyd become good friends pretty quickly! As it turns out, Lloyd is a huge fan of Bonita's romance novels, and when Bonita saw Lloyd's fights on the ring, she became hooked too. Lloyd and Bonita like to drink tea and watch romance movies together, and Lloyd teaches Bonita some fighting moves.

Character

Gaku is a pretty great buddy for Lloyd. Amvira's tough but lazy, so Gaku becomes one of the first people Lloyd meets who shares his hot-blooded love of fighting. They spar a lot and hang out on the town. Gaku shows Lloyd seedy places in Dresserton that he's found in his mercenary gig, and they get in trouble together.

Trivia

In-Game Fighting Style

  • The paper bag he wears over his head is his signature when in the ring, but it's more than just a paper bag. The inside is velvet-lined and enchanted to keep his Gorgon powers from leaking out, with the paper part being replaced often.
  • Lloyd eats a scotch bonnet pepper before risking his life, because it's so spicy that it removes his fear of death.
  • Lloyd cries every time he watches the opening scene in Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Gorgons CAN learn to suppress their petrifying gaze, but it's hard work and requires access to test subjects so very few gorgons master it. Notably, none of the original three Gorgon sisters were able to do it.
  • Lloyd eventually becomes one of the STRONGEST unawakened magic users in the world, even learning to concentrate his magical aura to the point where it really blurs the line between unawakened and awakened magic user.
  • Yeah, he eventually learns how to do a hadouken of pure magic energy.
  • Lloyd's never watched any of the Rocky movies.
  • If Lloyd awoke as a magic user, he would be powerful enough to join the Council of Welshara. At this point, however, the odds of him awakening are 1 in a million.
  • The snakes that make up Lloyd's hair are brainless and are controlled by Lloyd himself. He can see through their eyes but they dont have great vision.

Lloyd is all about massive, sustained damage. His stats are overall pretty average, but his abilities let him strike foes multiple times per turn, all on fairly short cooldowns and costs. His most trademark ability is "Combo" which increases his attack power every time he damages a foe with a physical attack, until the end of his turn, and between abilities like "Flurry" (hit twice for reduced accuracy), or "Uppercut" (make an attack then follow up with a high damage strike), and more, in the late game he can get his combo meter pretty high, for massive damage finishing strikes! He also has a few abilities to petrify his opponents with his Gorgon gaze, and dish out even more damage to them. His magic stat isn't high so his Gorgon gaze doesn't often defeat foes on its own, though.

His promotions are Street Fighter and Stonebreaker. Promoting to Street Fighter gives Lloyd everything he needs to be even more of a physical powerhouse, including the aforementioned "magical hadouken", a free action ranged attack that ignores a portion of enemy defense. Stonebreaker focuses more on his petrification, giving him more area damage and crowd control.
