Kohaku's Links
Kohaku is fiercely loyal to Sven as they have been companions since Sven was a small child. Upon learning his summon technique with his lantern, Sven made a pact with Kohaku and they have been together ever since. Their pact created a bond to ensure the two would stay together since should one die so shall the other and this includes sustaining injuries. The two are able to converse telepathically as well and know each other's thoughts and most inner desires. Kohaku is aware of Sven's deepest goal to reunite with his brother and will go to any lengths to aid him.
Sven finds comfort in his dragon companion, having known him since he was very little. Kohaku is known for his aggressive behavior towards most anyone, but because they have made a pact Sven has no fear of his savage ways. The two keep many secrets together and share each other's dreams and aspirations as well as many memories. It is almost impossible to see Sven without Kohaku because their bond runs so deeply.
Kohaku knows Polaris as Sven's brother. He knew Polaris before he ascended and that the man is very upright and the type that can be trusted even if he is mischievous at times. Sever is Sven's brother after all. He knows that the man would never do either Sven or himself any harm and thus is quite calm towards him despite his typical rage towards anyone other than Sven.
Polaris views Kohaku as his brother's defender and pact partner. As his former self, Sever, he had a pact partner himself, but in order to ascend he had no other choice but to relinquish their pact. Knowing this, he hopes that Sven will never ascend or ever find him again out of fear that he might have to endure the same pain of losing such a precious friend.
Kohaku understands the significance of Poniros as the king of the xuilings, however because the beast is not his pact partner he will never be able to fully trust him. It is considered common for a dragon companion to lash out against anything that is not it's master because they are considerably protective, but should they ever attack the king of xuilings it is considered a grave dishonor which may result in the banishment of the xuiling who is their master. It is viewed as a lack of control over their companion. Kohaku has never came into the presence of Poniros and probably never will.
Poniros knows of dragon companions as they are common among his people, especially among travelers. He does not view them as harmful or dangerous if kept under control and knows them as his people's defenders. While he does not have one of his own, he feels they are of great importance to xuiling society as they are very powerful allies. He has never come in contact with Kohaku and probably never will.
