Story

"If not me, then who?" This is something that Oscar asks himself a lot, a question that keeps coming up in his life. He wants to make the world a better place. It's simply the right thing to do. Still, he doesn't have much hope for humanity, and it's a one person at a time sort of thing, so he'll do his part. He feels obligated to. He's fine just being another protestor in the crowd. Without people like him, there won't be a crowd at all, right? So he's fulfilling his obligation. It's exhausting, and he doesn't know where he's going with this, but he just hopes he gets there soon.

His moms always took him to protests and demonstrations as a kid, and he continued his activism as a teenager. At this point, he's pretty worn out, and he's lonely. He just wants to make a proper human connection with someone. That's where Langen comes in. Langen Berg, the prettiest man that Oscar's ever met. It certainly wasn't love at first sight; Oscar is demi. But it was love at falling asleep in the same dorm room after playing video games instead of studying for the third night that week, it was love at texting good morning before the sun even rose and then chastizing him when he responded because it was too early to be awake, it was love at tracing his dragon tattoo and calling it pretty. Oscar's story is a love story, a story of being a good person and how exhausting that is, and a story of finding a home to come back to.

He's a plant science major, though he isn't entirely sure what he wants to do with his life after university. All of his plans for the future turn into daydreams of buying a home with Langen, adopting two dogs, and maybe running a bookstore in England somewhere. Running a bookstore would be nice, he thinks, if not a little stereotypical of a dream. But it would be nice. It would be peaceful. He thinks that may be exactly what he needs.

He also has a job at the local hardware store. It's not really that fun of a job, nor does it fit his skillset, but it pays a little more than minimum wage so he's stuck with it for the time being.

Personality

Despite talking quietly, Oscar has a lot to say. Whether talking about activism, the environment, the last bird he saw, or the new Nintendo game coming out, he's always careful to make sure that the other people in the conversation get to join in and follow along. There's not a mean bone in his body; he's always sure to take care of other people and make sure the people around him are doing well, though he sometimes does this at the cost of his own health. He's a sensitive person, and he's very easily affected by what the people around him say, do, and think. He always chooses the good guys in video games because it pains him to do otherwise.

He's definitely a geek, with his two big obsessions being Star Wars and Nintendo. He's read up on and studied the Star Wars Expanded Universe, despite it no longer being canon, and he knows almost everything there is to know about the more well-known Nintendo franchises. Among his prized possessions are a replica lightsaber, a signed photo of Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, his Nintendo Switch, and various rarer Amiibos. His friends can all describe several aspects of Star Wars and Nintendo in detail due to listening to his rambles on them.

He really loves birds, which is excellent seeing as they tend to flock to him for unknown reasons. Animals in general love him, and he makes sure to volunteer at the animal shelter when he has free time. He manages to have a lot more free time than his peers, too; one thing that he prides himself on is being a functional and established adult. His laundry is always done on Wednesdays, he always has a proper home-cooked meal, and his room is always spotless. On top of that, his schedule is managed and his homework is done. It impresses all those around him.

Misc info: he's a vegan, he knows how to fish but doesn't as it goes against his morals and ethics, he binge watches Star Wars every second week, he's autistic, he's really good at driving, he says dude in pretty much every sentence, he played basketball in high school and soccer in elementary, he got laser eye surgery once before but his eyes got worse again and he gave up, he's not easily physically hurt, he's great at doing eyeliner, and he sleeps in late when he can.
