Morphie's Links
Morphie was, at one point, close with Nyx. of course, this was before Nyx was banished for having both life and death magic, seen as “playing god.” Morphie very well could have stopped this as the Protector of Celestial, but they were too concerned with keeping their identity a secret. It is one of their biggest regrets.
Nyx despises Morphie ever since they left her to be banished because pf magic she didn’t choose. Seeks revenge on Morphie, and plots it as a Night-Spinner on Sallentine. Her trait became Deceit as she adopted the trait used against her as a sort of coping mechanism.
Knew him since before his father died. Lore is still up in the air for this, but the current plot here is Morphie worked at the Aur Palace as a guard/ caretaker and helped raise him. Helped him worked through the trauma of his parents and brother, and even accept his role as king and, later, his son- who manifested magically because of the absurd excess of negative emotions. Magic is weird, don’t ask me how that works.
Sees them as a sort of parent figure ever since he was orphaned. Doesn’t know Morphie is Morpheus, but is aware Artemis is dead.
Sturm accidentally saw them while they were fighting literal nightmare demons outside. Which means he saw them in their full ass god form. That was uh… hard to explain. Luckily, he was too little to remember it now. But Morphie knows he must at least suspect something.
Confides in them when Kallik is away doing king stuff. Suspects something godly about them, but can’t but his finger on it. Just… an unnnatutal aura about them and their magic.
Fears they won’t ever be as good as their predicessor of Protector of Celestial. Didn’t inherit Artemis’s title of God of Fate, instead being the God of Hope and Dream, dreams being a more literal sense. Morpheus is responsible for not letting the dream world’s creations leak into the waking world. Morpheus made the dream world to try and match Artemis’s great sacrifice. Morpheus doesn’t really mind people think Artemis made the dream world and is the one up keeping it, and actually prefers it over having people know that they’re the current Protector of Celestial.
Morpheus accidentally let one of the Nightmare creatures leak into the walking world without sending it back. But Cacophony seems to have no knowledge of his true nature as a Nightmare, and is doing more good than harm. He even had a kid by the time Morpheus found him, so they decided to leave him be.
Has no knowledge of Morpheus or the dream world, doesn’t know what he is, how he came into existence, but he doesn’t looo for answers. After all, who wants to ask a question they don’t want the answer to?
Ends up having to send demons and restless souls back to the Underworld along with sending Dreams and Nightmares back to the dream world. Tries to convince themself it’s no big deal, but like… Hel ain’t doing his job. Also thinks he’s is sort of a jerk from the very few council meetings held by the gods.
Thinks that if demons and restless souls somehow manage to escape the Underworld into the living world, that’s not his problem as he does not govern that dimension.
Morpheus has met Alder a handful of times in the waking world, and admires how hard she works. Morpheus learned sign language to be able to communicate with her. Have even run into each other in civillian forms, which was extremely funny. The two meet up once a moon to gossip- uh, I mean, to discuss important developments lately.
Although Alder misses Moirai, she is closer to Morpheus than she ever was to Artemis. She’s happy to finally have another god in the group that patrols the living world and doesn’t mind socializing. Meets up with them once a moon to gossip- uh, I mean, to discuss important developments lately.
