A fierce warrior who yearns for nothing more than the heat of the battlefield, forever forced to remain in the back, instead taking care of those foolish and unskilled enough to be trampled underfoot. Hating her job is one way of putting how Ayame feels about being forced to learn medicine, but hate isn't a word strong enough to grasp how much she truly loathes her duty with all of her being.
Character
Ayame, deep down, does not care about taking care of people. She doesn't pretend that she does. The young woman does her job anyway, because it is her duty and while she loathes her duty, she will not shame her clan by ignoring it.
Backstory
The young Kitsu was hoped to be a shugenja, as she was born to two shugenja parents, but unfortunately while she received the full-blooded Kitsu traits (red hair and golden eyes) she did not have the ability to speak to the kami. It was a large blow to the family, but are certain that she will have at least one shugenja child. However, while she was very loud in voicing her opinion that she wanted to train with the Matsu Beserkers, she was instead sent to train with the medics of the Kitsu. From there, her anger has only been steadily growing.
From the start, she was very verbal with how much she hated learning about medicine and being 'friendly' to the patients, but her cries went unheard. She was too valuable to her family to be allowed to fight. Because of her very obvious Kitsu heritage, she couldn't be allowed to risk her life. It was a cruel twist of fate when she ended up being a remarkably quick study and soared through her classes, making her not only hate her role in life, but incredibly good at it.

- Ayame is from the Lion Clan.
- She is based on the 5th edition of Legend of the Five Rings, a popular RPG.
- Her school in the game is Kitsu Medic.
- She is technically betrothed to another Kitsu, but she hasn't even bothered to learn his name.
- She looks up to the Matsu Beserkers and has always wanted to be one.
- For some reason, she really, really hates leeks.
