Around other monsters, Nina is skittish and fearful, though she is able to shake these feelings somewhat once she gets to know others better. Despite her constant underlying terror, Nina has been able to function at school rather well, even making a few friends- and, most importantly, meeting her girlfriend, Lenore. When she’s with Lenore, Nina is much more confident, and she would do anything to make the Gargoyle happy, up to and including facing down a fellow student to defend her.

Nina grew up thinking she was human, as did her parents. Her father hunted monsters to ‘defend’ their tiny village, and he taught Nina that all monsters are vicious, nasty creatures who ought to be wiped out. Nina accepted his training, and awaited the day that he finally took her out on a proper hunt. Before that could come, though, it became very clear that Nina was not, in fact, human, which forced Nina to run away from everything she’d ever known. She eventually got taken in by a band of monsters that treated her well and encouraged her to go to Monsuta Academia, but she still bears the scars of her father’s abuse.
