Profile

A young teenage native of the planet where everything takes place. Devotee of Good Uncle Headwind. Hot-headed and stubborn. A bit of a late bloomer.

I’ve never been able to draw her well, ha haha ha

the native Stylasterans have a pantheon of five major gods:

 - Headwind, the dragon god, who tames the clouds with broad scarred wings (affects weather (esp drought). Protector of airmen and flying creatures. Supposedly the one most sympathetic to humans (though that's not saying much).

 - Tribulation, who watches with cold, mocking eyes

(creator of obstacles and ruler of the distant/unknown, a celestial god who despises humans so much that it has never left the heavens. Gaining its favor is often considered the noblest challenge one can take.)

 - quickwit Caprice, whose dancing rouses the seas

(Nurturing but flighty goddess. Oddly, she's the only deity with a universally agreed gender. Her main reason for doing most things is said to be "I thought it would be really funny." Associated with, among other things, music, laughter, and rot.)

 -exuberant Structure?,

Patron of engineers and families. A bit of an exhibitionist. Designs organisms in its workshop and sends them out for testing.

 - Source, the sleeper in the valley

Thought to be dead or at least sleeping. Shaped the land with its fists. The four gods (and countless minor spirits) came from its own body; some say everything contains a bit of its soul.

Humans were created to feed the gods' children

Dug up from the ocean floor like potatoes (dragon god:dragons, birds, & flying insects | space god:stars, disease | sea goddess:aquatic life, all that’s monstrous | molecule god:plants, creeping insects

They look like space god because sea goddess has a sick sense of humor

each individual must prove its worth to the gods

if it succeeds it will be reborn as an immortal dragon in the uncharted territory (amphibious; something something physical attributes as gifts from the pantheon)

if not, then, well, them's the breaks

No one can agree on how to do this

also medical care is heatedly debated

some sects believe disease is a test to be overcome and will refuse treatment

(though healing prowess can be considered a show of cleverness/innovation?)

others let illnesses run their course because it means space god is calling the patient

Bioluminescence and soft-bodied invertebrates are said to be gifts from space god to ocean goddess. Whether this is passive aggressive goodwill, a slow colonization, or both is debated.
