They say I can fit four cherry tomatoes in my mouth. However, the truth is I can fit in five, and I’m very hurt by these false claims circulating around.
lWNriN1.png A third year student in a Parisian theater school, Laurine is considered one of the three princes of the school - and she definitely has the charisma to match! She’s good-hearted, fair and treats other students with an equal amount of kindness, and her masculine way of carrying herself has made her largely popular among the other girls of the school. However, she’s simultaneously dramatic and good at getting herself into trouble, her impulses often faster than her rational thinking is. While she’s not necessarily a goof, Laurine does have a way to lighten up the atmosphere and come up with things to make others laugh, whether intended or not.

Because of her height and husky voice, she’s practically always filling the male roles in her theater school productions - and she’s fine with this, as she doesn’t have a real preference despite her being typecast to certain male roles. She’s always at odds with her classmate Odette, who is likewise considered a school prince. While many have trouble telling if Laurine and Odette hate or love each other, Laurine most certainly loves spending time with her, and couldn’t ask for a better rival.

Perhaps surprisingly, Laurine takes the mysterious auditions for face value, eager to prove her worth to become a Top Star: she’s tired of people not realizing her ambition, and how determined she actually is despite her frivolous behavior.

APPEARANCE

TBA

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • She’s a very skilled cook and usually cooks for Michelle, sometimes even for the whole hallway. After her mother’s death she was forced to learn make a wide variety of foods to help lessen the burden of her single father.

  • Extremely dramatic & theatrical, she’ll never hesitate to start improvising on the spot and may do so even in places and situations that might not be completely socially acceptable.

  • Although she might appear to be an idiot, she’s actually very academically gifted and did well even prior to coming to the theatre school. She’s particularly good at biology, maths and chemistry, but because of her oftentimes frivolous behavior, many don’t actually believe her to be smart.

  • Make no mistake though, she’s also a major fool despite being academically skilled. She has little to no sense of self presenance and she loves getting herself involved in various shenanigans.

  • Has had to formally train her voice lower to better match the roles she plays. Although her speaking voice may be fairly androgynous, her singing voice by default is actually higher than one would imagine. Her vocal range is the type where she can easily go to both directions, but can’t reach notably high or low notes.

  • Her main strengths are theory, action scenes and singing. In turn, she struggles portraying her characters differently from each other, although in her defense she is usually typecasted to play very similar characters. She also struggles playing quiet and calm characters, and wishes to get the most action filled roles possible.

  • Her stamina is notoriously good, to the point some wonder if it’s even possible to tire her out.

  • Perceptive towards other people, but when it comes to herself she couldn’t even tell if someone was flirting with her or not. She’s oblivious to a boot.

  • While not completely fluent, she understands Japanese pretty well.

TRIVIA

  • Although she’s not a vegan, most of the food she makes is plant-based. She tries her best to buy ingredients that are environmental-friendly but also healthy.

  • During her three years at the theater school, she hasn’t played a female role even once. She’s not bothered by it at all though, given she’s happy playing male roles, although doesn’t actually have a personal preference per se.

  • Has a crush on Kaoru Seta from BanG Dream!. She’s played the game ever since it came out in Japan, and plays it now on both Japanese and international accounts.

  • Her mother was Japanese-French. Laurine is not in a very deep contact with her relatives in Japan, claiming their relationship is a little complicated.

  • Sleeps like a log and hates early mornings. It’s usually up to Michelle to wake her up because she’ll easily sleep past her alarms, even with them ringing nonstop right next to her.

  • Used to cosplay when she was younger, and actually gained interest in acting from these stage experiences. She also loves wearing various costumes, which is another major reason to why she wanted to become an actress.

  • Uses contact lenses, but nobody seems to really know that. She’s not keeping it a secret or anything, it’s just that people don’t really seem to be able to imagine her having a bad vision. When she wears glasses people think she’s just doing it for the sake of fashion.

  • She lets the other girls of her hallway play her Nintendo Switch on the living room screen.

  • Loves reading old horror, especially if they’re plays or adapted into plays. Her favorite novel is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

PERSONALITY

Laurine likes to keep a generally relaxed appearance, knowing nothing good will come out of letting her negative feeling take over. She has a kind and respectful way of speaking when dealing with strangers and peers during lessons, but there is also a loud, bubbly and thatherical side to her that usually surfaces after the school day ends and she gets to take off her uniform. Life truly is her stage at every moment from there on out, and she usually spends her time goofing around with her classmate Odette, whom she has a very audible and visible rivalry with - much to the annoyance of those who would like some peace in the Royal hallway living room. Regardless, the shenanigans those two get themselves into tend to be entertaining to watch, as the two school princes try to outdo one another in various, oftentime bizarre ways.

Despite the fact Laurine can be very perceptive to the people around her and has a surprising amount of maturity, more often than not people only get to see her more spunky side, always ready to entertain others and willing to laugh at herself. Because of this many regard her as an airhead, and even if they are more or less right (Laurine can be a very simple person, after all), she does sometimes fear people won’t take her seriously when she herself is being serious. Unfortunately she herself also doubts her own capabilities sometimes, downplaying her achievements and feeling guilty if given a role she thinks is too important for someone like her to play and “surely someone else could do it better”.

She tends to put her everything in whatever she does, whether it’s acting or showing her love and appreciation for her favourite fictional bifauxnen. Passion is definitely something Laurine isn’t lacking, and her excitement and dedication for the things that interest her tend to be contagious, if not annoying to some. She has a very earnest and open personality, not hiding awfully much about herself nor having many secrets.

HISTORY

Laurine was the first child to her parents; a highly anticipated ray of light in their humble little family. Her parents, while both struggling to find full-time work and constantly battling with their finances, poured all their love into her but raised her with clear rules. She was a bubbly and expressive child, always enjoying watching the daily chores of her parents and attempting to help them - often with mixed results, but she tried her best!

Her first brother was born when she was three, and the second when she was six. She excitedly took the role of an older sister, assuming the kind of responsibility that made it easy for her parents to leave her occasionally in charge of her brothers. This was often needed, as her parents’ working hours had become even more irregular at that time, often leaving them exhausted. Laurine saw it as her job as the oldest to take the place of her parents and helping to raise her brothers, even if she was a little rough and tough when it came to them.

A tomboy ever since she was old enough to start expressing herself properly, she adventured outdoors and played video games with the local boys around her age. However, social as she was, she had plenty of friends who weren’t boys, and Laurine was regarded as a good, fair and fun friend to be around, if not a little eccentric with her dramatic tendencies and a knack for getting into trouble. Although never anything major, her parents would often worry for her wellbeing, with Laurine seemingly having no sense of danger or self preservation.

Laurine’s life was fairly mundane up until her mother fell ill when Laurine was twelve. In order to ease the burden of her mother, Laurine would learn to cook, pay bills and do other household chores on her parents’ stead. During this time she’d spend more time at home than being with friends, resulting in some of her social ties severing and friendships growing distant. Her mother passed away when Laurine was fourteen, and the family had little time to deal with their grief: Laurine’s father had to now work twice as hard to afford taking care of his family, and Laurine herself would help at home and do various odd jobs to get some extra cash for herself.

Having done cosplay as younger and always being excited about school plays, when it came time for Laurine to decide what to do after middle school, she decided to apply for theater school. Since the school had a few diploma spots with most of the fees paid, she practiced hard to make into them - and she succeeded. All her relatives were supportive of her dream as a stage actress, claiming they had always expected her to end up in this kind of field.

Currently: Laurine is currently a third year student, still rooming with Michelle and having the same old friendly rivalry with Odette.
