Before Death

Hailing from a time of horse and carriage, Smi lived within the walls of a well guarded castle as a boy. Very early in his life, the young prince lost both of his parents to unexplained events and was there after taken in by a guardian who guided his teachings with a cruel thumb. The conditions were harsh, strict and unfair both mentally and physically at the hand of his caretaker. Residents of the land never dared to speak out against the treatment they witnessed and because of this Smi would accept his fate with grit teeth. Rarely complaining or lashing out; eyes set on the day he could escape.

At the cusp of maturity, aged 16, Smi was put into place as king. The responsiblity, expectations and tasks put on his shoulders were heavy. Despite this, the boy continued forward, a fire burning deep within his soul. Shortly after stepping into power the land came under violent invasion. War began to tear its heavy claws through the kingdom. Desperate to keep everyone safe Smi insisted to take to the battlefield himself alongside the soldiers sent out.

Unbenounced to him, his caretaker had set up an ambush to meet the king. Smi and his infantry team were pushed violently back, separated from the territory of his kingdom. Deep within the forests they spent days on horseback in an attempt to retreat only to be surrounded. Weakened without rations or sleep the soldiers continued to fight valiantly... Only to be slain and burned. The king was left as the last to be executed, forced to watch the ranks dismantled. Slaughtered. Until he drew his last breath.

Rebirth

Soul full of anger and spite Smi was barred from passing on. Instead a corrupted entity preyed upon the lost spectre, seeding its grasp deep. Smi's body was reformed, though twisted from it's previous appearance, and his voice destroyed as compensation for the new life given to him. Memories near completely wiped he found himself alone but alive. Unable to die from either old age nor physical damages Smi now wanders the world in attempts to find his place. Despite living a relatively peaceful life there are many occassions the human will find himself in situations of great peril. Due to his altruistic nature Smi will often throw himself in harms way to protect others. These actions have gotten him tangled in the afairs of serial killers, monsters, demons, spirits and many other unsavory beings.

Smi is a relatively passive person and its very rare to see him attack others even in self defense, preferring to use himself as a punching bag than raise a hand. Despite this there are occassions where Smi will fight if absolutely necessary. Having been previously dead for so long before his reformation, Smi can see and interact with ghosts with the mild ability to communicate via emotions to utilize their abilities.
