About

TITLE: The Silent City Hunter

HALO: Syringes and viscera

Citadel is... certainly an interesting character. It seems as if though he puts form over function, what with using a stylized walking cane as a weapon over an actual blade and the insistence that his appearance remain immaculate. He has a particular aesthetic style that he likes to adhere to at all costs. Beneath all the pomp and circumstance, nobody really knows what's going on with Citadel. He sure puts on a show, but there's something... off about him. He has an insatiable thirst for knowledge, specifically of the mortal form, and will often conduct very involved, rather morally questionable experiments to test whatever theories he comes up with, often using his own body as the test subject. He is a hunter, yes, but not in the sense that one would think. He's in it largely due to curiosity; he wants to see the beasts that he fights up close and personal, and often collects their corpses for study when the hunt is over. Once Citadel has set his mind to something, he'll see it through to the bitter end. He's not one to give up easy, and is legitimately insulted whenever people try to dissuade him from persisting. He tends to split his life into three parts: the role of the hunter, the role of the doctor, and the role of the researcher. Combining these roles results in a lot of wild shit. The researcher is the one who performs the post hunt autopsies, injects mutagens into his bloodstream to test their effects on himself, just generally tends to put scholarly pursuits on the top of his priority list. He has been described in the past as a mad scientist. This is only partially true. 30% true. The hunter works in tandem with the researcher; as without subjects to test his work on, where would he be? The doctor is, well, a healer. While his medicine is on the more questionable side, people tend to leave his service healthier than they were walking in. His motives are unclear and his vibes are rancid, but he gets the job done.

BIO

Very little is known about Citadel. He showed up in Odonrith one day, claiming to be a doctor from The Silent City to the west and demonstrating a skill set more akin to that of a hunter than a healer. It's a miracle that nobody immediately questioned him. He, like a decent few other hunters, tends to keep the details of his past close to his chest; there's no need for these people to know anything more about him than is strictly necessary. All they need to know is that he's handy with a threaded cane and has a legitimate medical degree. He is one of the more scholarly aligned hunters. Part of the tiny order of hunters that embraced the ability to alter their physiology, Citadel uses a combination of blood magic and a corrupted form of alchemy to change and enhance his body. Most of his research, when not concerning anatomy, revolves around the creation of new alchemical formulas that will further bolster himself against the horrors he faces on a daily basis. He has also displayed interest in toying with the lines between life and death in his work. If he can enhance his body with the elixirs that he makes, what is there to stop him from creating one that stops death in its tracks? Or bring him back from the dead? He doesn't tend to share this with anybody else, not even other hunters. This will eventually progress into more... morbid pursuits, but for now, he is content with mutation.

trivia

  • His cane can both act as a rapier and unspool to become a barbed whip. It's a nasty piece of work.
  • He actually does have his patient's best interests in mind, even if some people don't believe him.
  • Tends to work closely with the few other physicians in Odonrith and the surrouding cities. Doctors Lavender and Locke are favorites of his.
  • He often jokes about having replaced his liver. People are starting to wonder if it's actually a joke or not.

Relationships

Hugo Korzha [ Fellow Hunter ]

Hugo and Citadel have worked together several times in the past. Citadel has taken an 'academic interest' in him, particularly his bloodline lycanthropy. He uses the guise of the hunt to get close enough to Hugo to study him. Hugo honestly barely tolerates Citadel. They're. Friends? Maybe? On a good day?

Parliament [ Fellow Hunter ]

Parliament and Citadel don't like each other much. Citadel thinks that she is too much of a goody two shoes for him, and Parliament rightfully thinks that there's something deeply, horrifically wrong with him, but doesn't have any evidence to back up her claims. Still, to save face and preserve the peace between the Court of Owls and the mutagen group, the two present to the public as on good terms.

Chasm Mel'tar [ Subject of Academic Interest ]

Citadel is trying to deny death. Chasm is a walking example of this. Of course he'd be interested in following up on that. Besides the academic interest, Chasm has been the subject of quite a few of Citadel's hunts, each of them ending in failure. Chasm enjoys messing with Citadel, going so far as to toy with the hunter whenever they fight. He doesn't take him seriously at all.

Michaelis Abbott [ Academic Peer ]

Citadel regards Michaelis as a veritable font of information, and tends to share his notes with the deer in exchange for his insight. Citadel has no idea why he knows so much about immortality and godhood, but he isn't willing to press further, for fear of losing that tenuous relationship.

Pimento Graveborn [ Friend ]

Citadel finds Pimento refreshing; she doesn't particularly care about or closely scrutinize what Citadel does with his free time, and that works for him. He and Pimento are working on a book of sorts; both of them compiling information on the creatures that they encounter into one reference tome, with Pimento providing a more combat and behavior related insight, and Citadel contributing anatomy and physiology. It's a working relationship.

The Rotting Monarch [ Vibes With ]

Oh these two love each other. Well, love might be a strong word, it's more like a 'these two share similar goals and kinda find camaraderie in that.' They can't publicly associate, as friendship with liches is generally frowned upon in Duskwatcher circles, but Citadel tends to seek their company when nobody's paying attention.

Casran Samaar [ Is Fascinated By ]

Citadel would very much like to study Casran. Casran would very much like to avoid that.
