Profile

Gavril was once a cranky master Necromancer who wound up dead by horrific accident, and separated from his body as a result of punishment from Death for his terrible ways and attitude towards others, which bound him to his home until his body completely decayed. He has resented Death ever since then and plans to usurp it. He has grown more powerful and more crazed as his unlife carries on.

Gavril is a poltergeist necromancer, he’s very powerful and very old, and able to travel dimensions, and has a quest to usurp Death, the one constant in every universe and thus, in his opinion, the only true “god”.

But why?? What happened to this kitsune that would make him embark on such a conquest?

He is actually quite afraid of Death, as an entity...

You see, he was a normal kitsune, a little quirky but nothing unusual really. His family line settled in Russia though originated in Japan. But during a terrible family reunion on the coast, he turned his back to his family, and to truly turn his back he took up Necromancy, the exact opposite of his heritage of nature magic. He was outcasted from his family and, as he drove deeper into it, from most others.

He was never much for socialization, but it grew exponentially worse as he started down the road most necromancers do: the quest for immortality. Sure, as a kitsune he could live to be several thousands of years old, but it wasn’t enough. Perhaps it’s the cursed nature of necromancy that drove him to it. But anyway, he grew more and more antisocial and pushed away all others, often running off his own assistants and apprentices and sometimes even test subjects.

The last person to give up on him was a skilled assistant and fellow kitsune, but she couldn’t take his cantankerous and aggressive nature anymore and stormed out. Fatefully, soon after, possibly due to the altercation, he makes a dire mistake in his magic and potion work and ends up literally blowing himself up.

He wakes up to find his spirit has been separated from his body, which is mostly intact but horribly mangled and disfigured, and he realizes with horror he has in fact died. Ironically. Before he could even get his second tail, a mark of kitsune longevity and maturation.

He is then greeted by Death, who binds him to his lab to watch his body decompose, as nobody will ever come check on him, as punishment for his foul nature and cruelty to others.

When his time was up and he was able to finally leave his lab, he swore a new goal of overthrowing Death and achieving ultimate power and timelessness in this way.

He’s known for neverending smiling and laughs, pride and perhaps overconfidence, and can change his incorporeal form to anything, though preferring to choose a cute, nonthreatening appearance, but also having a habit of switching his body parts around as a means to disconcert others. He might remind one of a cheshire cat. That’s not to say he can’t be serious - he certainly gets deathly serious when he may be outdone.

And when taking kitsune minions, he has a habit of ripping their tails off.

He can form a human appearance but it’s a thin veil, again he never learned much of his traditional magic so the typical kitsune trickery of a human form doesn’t quite come to him easily. He’s pale, white haired, his skin is ice cold, he’s certainly not anatomically correct, and his eyes remain glowing red so he keeps them closed. He loses composure easily, when excited or angered, showing the dark marks of his fur around his eyes and mouth, grasping claws for hands, and sprouting two locks of black hair on his head.

In his living form, he was fairly normal fox colours, red and russet with darker red and even black marks on his feet, tail tip, ears, framing his muzzle, and circling his eyes. When initially separated from his body, he retained this colouring, though of course he was fairly see-through, but through the time he spent festering in his magic and malice in his lab, his colours have changed to the more ghastly and malevolent appearance here.
