This young vixen was born into a family that hated every fiber of her being she was kept as a tool and not as a part of the family. But even with her family actively hating her for the heinous act of being born, they were also the cruelest beings imaginable.

They could have left her ignorant; she could have gone her entire life thinking that her life was normal. But no, her caretakers needed her to know how bad she had it. As such they went out of their way to teach her how to read and write. Regularly they would provide her plenty of books for her to read, not for entertainment, but to teach her that other people were living better lives than her and she was just born into the wrong one.

She slowly learned this horrible lesson and cursed her life. She only held on because through the books meant to break her, she found hope. Hope that one day life could be better, that she could find her own little slice of happiness.

To say she's ignorant of most things is an understatement. She has some book smarts she picked up but has almost no street smarts to speak of. That doesn't mean she's ignorant of dangerous situations. She had a decent social sense when specifically directed at her - she mostly ignores it though as she had been conditioned to do from a young age.

The way she was raised gave her an iron-clad spirit - she had to develop this, or she would have been crushed by the weight of her family's disdain for her.

Given the books she was given by her malicious family, she has a very distorted worldview when it comes to Maestros and Resonators. She has a highly idealized perspective on the subject and thinks it more romantic than it actually is.

Living a life where she had very little, she is very protective of what few things she would consider hers. That being said, she has a horribly vicious temper if she's pushed to that point. It would be very easy for her to consider ending an encounter fatally if she felt her tiny sliver of happiness she had clawed out was to be taken away from her.

With all that nastiness out of the way, she still really enjoys reading and is grateful to have people she can finally call friends. She's a hopeless romantic and gets flustered very easily. She also loves food especially sweets. Any cooking food gets her stomach growling and mouth watering with anticipation. In short, it's super easy to make her happy, maybe a sweet treat or even positive attention is enough to get her tail wagging.

Misc Facts

  • She enjoys reading romance novels the most, especially when they delve more towards smut/erotica.
  • Her native tongue is not English - she speaks Italian as her primary language
    • She mainly speaks English thanks to her Resonator abilities and her Maestro speaking English
    • Her most uttered italian phrase is "ho fame" usually with puppy dog eyes directed at her maestro
  • She can be quite fussy about her appearance and personal hygiene
    • It's almost as if she's trying to impress a certain someone
  • She has an innate sense for cooking, but is only starting out and is prone to make mistakes

Taika was born into the infamous Voli clan as a resonator. Births like Taika's aren't uncommon, though in Natural communities, she would be considered as a birth defect. Regardless, she was kept, though some may argue that was crueler than the other option.

The Voli clan is a Natural clan, so naturally they look down on Resonators like Taika. Doubling down, she was also born as a Lunar-element, giving the whole family fuel for the fire.

As soon as she was able to walk and understand basic instructions, she was put to work. She would be taught all manner of tasks from basic house cleaning, to even reading and writing. Her parents, if you could call them that, wanted an obedient little servant girl who they could extract labor from all for the cost of a little bit of food.

And that they got. Taika did her best to appease her parents early on. Though her curiosity began to get the better of her as she began to question her position in society.

Of course, her parents were nothing but demons and began to thoroughly educate her on where exactly she stood in the greater world. Some of her formative memories involve slurs and insults being slung her way in public, unprovoked.

She couldn't understand why she was lesser than her brothers and sisters. Nothing made sense.

To further the poor girl's confusion, she was given plenty of reading material. Lots of books about maestros and resonators. Especially books featuring romantic relationships between them.

And every time, she would be reminded and taunted that she would never have anything like that. She was a lunar after all. Even those furless humans didn't want her.

Nobody wanted her.

As she grew older the demands of her only increased. She was even taught to fight for the express purpose of being a training dummy for her siblings. They would grow together, but Taika never once won a fight with her brothers or sisters.

To speak of the Voli clan for a moment, they're so infamous as "the fanged mafia". They had many enemies. Many that needed to be disposed of. They didn't trust her with this important task. Far too risky. However, that didn't spare her from the sights, sounds, and smells she was forced to bear witness to.

Her caretakers cared not of the trauma they inflicted on her. She was a thing, an object to these "people"

Even so, a spark of blue burned brightly within her heart. Where her guardians intended for the books they constantly assaulted her with to break her, she found hope. There could be a world where she had a maestro. There had to be.

But there wasn't. Sixteen long years of abuse began to wear away her iron-clad spirit. Slowly she began to lose that flicker of hope that had been unintentionally kindled. Every day was the same: wake up, eat breakfast, clean the manor. Depending on the season she'd shovel snow or sweep leaves.

Days blurred together, only being barely held together by where her bookmark moved to next. Until one early spring morning where a boy approached her suddenly.
