Summary
New Bark isn't exactly the forefront of the music industry, you say? We'll see about that!
Born to a rat woman and promptly dumped on her dove father, Riley never really felt that she fit in with her family. And who could blame her? With more than a few little half-siblings, all much birdier than she thanks to their cardinal mother and dove father, it was clear that she was different. They did their best to make her feel welcome, certainly, but surrounded by so many people so different from her, combined with her rejection sensitive dysphoria giving her the impression that her stepmother and father both favored her siblings significantly over her (and I mean, there were five of them plus her), well... It's easy to see why she left at sixteen.
Despite these hardships, Riley did her best to make it through - She got an apartment with a friend, a job at a local pizzeria, a diploma from high school, even took some classes at the local community college... But not everyone is made for that sort of life. A year and a half into her schooling, she ultimately found it to be a waste of time and money as she struggled to focus and retain the information she learned, and made the choice to drop out in pursuit of something she always found joy in - Music.
Several years later, between YouTube uploads, livestreams, Patreon, and shows at the local clubs every Thursday, Riley has found herself with a small following. It's not quite enough for her to quit her day job and move out to the big city yet, but she'll get there someday!
Trivia
- As mentioned in her bio, Riley has ADHD, specifically combined-type leaning somewhat towards inattentive. She often has difficulty focusing and remembering things, as well as sitting still, and though she's gotten better at controlling her reactions to it, still struggles somewhat with RSD. Despite her focusing and memory problems, music is a hyperfixation of hers, and she can easily spend hours working on things related to it (often forgetting to eat in the process).
- Riley takes strongly after her mother appearance-wise, with only a handful of her father's pigeon qualities - The fur on her neck and upper chest is irridescent, much like his feathers, and she has a handful of feathers on her arms near the elbow, as well as bands of dark fur near her wrist which resemble those on a pigeon's wings. Her strong tend towards ratlike features was one of the things that alienated her from her family growing up, as she got the impression that both her father and stepmother strongly preferred her cardinal-dove siblings to her.
- Riley lives off of leftover pizza snatched from her work at the end of her shifts; if a customer doesn't pick up their order in a reasonable amount of time, she's always sure to set it off to the side for her and her coworkers to pick from at the end of their shifts... not that there's often much fighting about who gets what, considering just about the only pizzas she won't eat are ones with white sauce rather than red.
