He… has to be fucking with you, right? Like, there’s no way he actually means what he’s saying. His delivery is always straight-faced, maybe tinged with a bit of cheerful excitement on a good day, but it never lines up with what he’s saying… He’s just bored. If you can keep him content, he has a very calm and friendly demeanor, though he’s still going to be nosey. His mood changes pretty wildly day to day, usually dependent on how much meat-energy he's got. When he is storing none, he ‘s practically sedated. He can spurr some get-up-and-go, usually in response to a danger of some sort, but just casual conversation isn’t worth that sort of energy.

Origins

The choice to go running into the pen at 1am was not the best one. Neither was the flintlock. Neither was locking his remaining hounds up. But god damnit this was going to be the last time he felt with this thing. And it was. He was expecting a bear, to be honest. Unprepared for the settling winter, looking for a quick meal- something easy to chase off with a bang or two. The 8 feet of angry cat that he met was going to be a different story. But he was furious. So was she.

At first the struggle was fair. A few shots to the chest cavity slowed her down a bit, and the adrenaline was enough to keep him going through the pain. It was only as it dragged on that things seemed to melt away. She bit into him and he tasted his own flesh, and soon he flexed talons through it’s muscular neck. He saw the fear in his own eyes as he dislocated his own arm with a well timed pull of the teeth. He pulled her furred skin, with a strength he did not think he had, opening a tear along her spine. It was mighty warm inside that skin.

It had eaten him completely, just as he had eaten it completely. He laid there in silence, watching the sun rise, as a wave of confusion rolled over him. The struggle had been a few minutes, a generous guess wouldn’t even had been an hour, yet it was dawn? Thinking about it made his head throb with a newfound intensity, painful and electric. It was a slow walk back, though he could see his house the whole time. Something about the way the tendons pulled and spasmed, fatiguing while performing what sound have been entirely routine movements. The next few months were… a blur. Sharp pains in his chest grew worse. Hooves were hard to fit anywhere good, eventually he borrowed some pieces from the local coyotes. He had a fondness for the eyes, moving their circuitry around until they finally clicked anew.

Taylor White

It's an odd sort of romance, but a romance all the same. It's real easy to be charmed by Locke, as Taylor was quick to find: something about the way he cares just as much as he doesn't, the gentle purr to his voice that is just a bit too animalistic. Taylor's got his own charm though, and it wasn't too long before he and Locke were spending long nights talking together 'bout whatever came to mind. At some point they decided they were married. It might have been a joke at the time, but they honestly don't remember, and why would they? It hardly matters.

Winnie Hancock

Guests are always a joy for Locke, a blessing from a Lord that left him long ago. Even the worst company is better than boredom. But Winnie is good company. She shouldn't be so nice to him. Maybe it's fear, but Winnie has a special sort of charm, that gentle kindness and genuine concern that you don't really think you've earned but you'll take it nonetheless. Locke can't quite figure out why she puts up with him. Stockholm sydrome, maybe? She insists that's not a real thing though... Truth be told, he's got a good heart (or three) and likes to help folks out, even through he's been damned for so, so long. She treats him with kindness and grace and he is happy to return it in full.
