Nixon

Nixon is a quiet young man who keeps to himself, often mistaken as a delinquent because of his unfriendly expression and the way he dresses; though in truth he is gentle and understanding even if he isn't inviting towards others. Despite his introverted disposition, he observes the people around him and does fixate towards those he cares about. While he sometimes makes an effort to engage in conversation, he isn't the type to talk a lot but when he does he doesn't mince words. He is honest and blunt, but does his best not to sound rude. While he may seem like a calm individual most of the time, he may suddenly show his bad temper if his little sister is harmed in any way.

Due to his condition as a wishbone with a deep black SIN, there are times he is irritable and violent at times. However he is able to keep his sanity in check by clinging tightly onto a rosary his mother gave him, as he was raised to be religious and devout.

Earth survived an apocalyptic event called "The Last Judgment" where a pandemic killed more than two-thirds of the world population, and special individuals are brought back to life if the "SIN", the virus, is compatible with its host. Survivors are called "wishbones" because the SIN chooses someone with strong desires and contracts anyone who manages to make a "wish" to it. The SIN and the host have a symbiotic relationship and the person brought back retains their self and gains special powers and abilities.

Just as he succumbed to the strain of the virus, Nixon successfully turned into a wishbone when he wished to protect his cherished loved ones. While his younger sister also survived, they unfortunately lost both their parents to the disease. For a short while they were placed in an orphanage together until the siblings got separated upon adoption. Unlike his sister who was adopted into a good household, he was taken in by a man who took in orphaned wishbones to participate in underground fights to gamble. Nixon's fighting skills were honed throughout the years, as his SIN strangely grew blacker every victory when it would devour the enemy's SIN. While Nixon saw the man as a father-figure he knew what they were doing was wrong; eventually he was forced to fight him when one of the other children was nearly beaten to death. It was accidental that he took the man's life as well as his SIN.

Years later, Nixon parted ways with the children he grew up with and managed to reunite with his childhood friend who also became a wishbone. His friend invited him to join a rebellion against the totalitarian regime the current government established a decade after the great pandemic. Nixon hesitantly agreed as he was promised by his friend they'd also look for his younger sister together.

Nixon's younger sister whom he got separated from after the pandemic a decade ago. Back at the orphanage, she was one of the earliest to get adopted. While it is unfortunate her foster parents didn't want to adopt him as well, he is thankful they seem like decent people who'll raise her well. He longs to be with her again as a family. When they meet again he wants to tell her the funny story of her name where their father mispelled it on her birth certificate; their mother wanted to name her "Maria" which was such a common religious name at the time.

Nixon's close friend from the orphanage; they initially got separated after the pandemic a decade ago. While their friendship only lasted a few months, it left a strong impression on him because of how Salem looked after him and Maia together. To Nixon's surprise they met again by chance in the middle of a dogfight with the government's special forces. Nixon was just glad to see a familiar face and decided to join Salem's rebel group despite the dangers that await him. After all he was promised that they'd look for Maia together.
