Den Theme: Inundated Temple

The area was strewn with white stones, lime and marble, all roughly hewn. Unfinished, but intriguing as the demogel moved through them. It was eerily silent here, as it studied the mossy effigies; wolves and deer, owls, such curious shapes under the growth. Dragons. And other creatures they didn't know, even speaking to the locals, were they from the chronoscape? Tarot shook his head, blinking as Augury cooed, attracting their attention back, glancing at what seemed a sundial in a ring of stones. The blorb blinked, no, a moondial, it realized. The stones depicting the phases, carvings on their sides, astrological symbols? Esoteric marks... his eyes thinned, and tracked toward the waterway beyond, invisible but clearly audible. As one they moved into the treeline, moving along overgrown paths, stones barely discernable, and into the dark beyond.

"How far have we come?" the silent voice jerked Tarot from its thoughts, blinking. The drone of insects, birdsong and the sloshing if the dragon's steps had become so complete it had locked them into their thoughts and it took him a moment to register the question. Another passed as they considered it, "A few miles now?" it guessed, uncertain, but someting had changed in the air, as if pulling them along. The sand had changed, a rusty red tone flecked with violet shards permeating the white, and here and there on the shore stones seemed to hover slightly above the ground. Leaves fell, only to hover upward as they blew, strange Eddie's to the air, updrafts. A tingle to the atmosphere that made its halo flicker brighter occasionally of it's own accord. "We should find something soo-" the words cut off with a low whistle from the avian dragon, and their head rose, blinking owlishly again. Peering up at the buildings that rose from the bend in surprise. The stone shimmered in the light, metal veining and incursions, a statue lie fallen in a pool nearby. Long overtaken by mangroves, the blued stone strange, more of the violet incursions. Crystals. Granite perhaps, but what was the material? Amethyst? No, but what then?

Tarot shook his head and hopped down, landing on dry ground and eyeing the paths that lead upward. Into the grand structures. Moving forward carefully. It was a huge space, open and bright, a plesant breeze ruffled fur and feathers as they moved farther still. Making remnants of streamers flap and aged bells twinkle merrily in a continuous melody. Birds flew here as well, singing in time with the bells and collecting on the sills of intricately carved windows. Everything dancing on the soft, ever-present breeze which stirred the waters. Winding like pools of mercury in the sunlight through the area, dotted by ramps and bridges, everything open, accessible. Filtering traffic deeper in, toward what remained to be seen. Figurines dotted the space, birds and wolves, owls and deer, some no taller than the stilla itself, others towering sentinels which dominated the walls and held the roof aloft. Through the gaps in their bodies, between the individuals, the two gained entry. Moving into the shade and studying the space as eyes adjusted. Here bricks and chunks of the purple stone hovered. The floor metal tiles and mirrors directed light in to see by. Esoteric symbols warded every inch of the space, more dedications to the moon. To night and twilight, what it all meant the demogel wasn't certain, but their natural curiosity perked for it all. Bouncing through the space in a near trance. Wondering and studying the murals etched into the walls. Silver lines on copper, bronze. How old was this place; when last had anyone seen it?

Tarot shook its head and hummed, realizing they had crossed the entire room. More statues acted as columns here, and he peered at the water beyond. A lake... a dam... the temple, city? Whatever this had been was also a dam, controlling the flow downstream and collecting water behind it. Everything here was intricate, more detail than one could take in and every time they peered around new things lept out from the scene. The soft curl of water and wind runes set into the walls, the way the floor was cut to mimic the sandy waves they had followed up in the stream bed. Ever more depictions of those foreign creatures, of homids paying heed to the same. The blocks of violet that glowed faintly, carved into intricate depictions and shapes. Birds here, beasts there, fractals and geometric shapes. One was larger than the rest, a metallic geode, cracked open and filled with the glowing stones. It was overwhelming, and yet it was calm. Even as he tried to process the space something tugged again, something firmer and clearer; wherever this was, whatever it had been, this was home...
