Val was a mage, who survived the Scourge's attack upon Silvermoon, enlisted into Kael'thas's Sunfury forces that was to travel into the Outlands. Before leaving for the portal, Val met a shy and naive elf, El, who looked almost sorely out of place in the group with rich silks that she tried to hide. Making the observation he decided to keep an eye on her throughout their travels, only to be surprised at how well she handled herself around a blade. Soon enough the two became friends, and would work together to protect each others backs during the minor Legion attacks on their encampment. Having spent so long together, it was obvious to any outsider that there was the beginnings of romantic feelings between the two, but before either of them got a chance to confess a surprise legion raid while passing through the Blade Edge Mountains ruined any chance they would have. With nobody to watch his back during this surprise attack, he was viciously torn asunder by a pack of felstalkers. His grave still remains in the mountains.
