Profile

Zaos was born in a Elven monastery and spent his first 100 years learning and honing his monk skills. The sages sent him on a rite of passage and pilgrimage to unlock his true potential of the Way of the Astral Self.  It didn't take him long to develop his astral arms, and also unexpectedly fall in love with another being he called his equal. His training came to a halt as he stayed with his first lover, enjoying the domestic life they shared. But unfortunately, Their time together was only a fraction of his lifespan as his lover passed in their sleep from an undetected disease. Grief stricken, he went back into seclusion to continue his training for another few years, and while he grew stronger and the hurt slowly lessened, he started craving society again.

Thirsting for knowledge for the unexplainable, he found himself amongst great scholars and not-so scholars in Candlekeep, and what awaited him was a peculiar adventure:

(10th level) Zaos accompanied by Zavina the wind ganasi, and Dunder the orc, read a book and are surprised by a djinni named Gazre-Azam, who is trapped in a book. He promises to grant a wish if he is freed, which can only be done if the person who put him in the book is killed or forced to free him. The group sets off to his last known location, a cave by the sea. In the cave, the party encounters a dragon, that is flattered greatly by compliments, and then gives the party the diary of Zikran. Following the path laid out in the journal, they head to the Cloud Peaks. The climb is rough, with attacks from monsters and the frigid cold. Once they crest the top, there they see a cloud giants keep. The keep is inhabited with giant ghosts. The party looks around for a bit, and eventually heads down to the basement. Once there, they are confronted by Zikran, his elementals, and a magical cannon. A fight ensues, and Zikran is dealt with before he can do too much. He gives in and frees Gazre-Azam, where upon he grants a single wish to the party, a bigger fish stick for Dunder.

After the waste of a wish, he continued his studies in both mind and body, until he found himself in another adventure:

(12th level) Zaos with Chin the human, Maluco the orc, and Quynn the gnome are busy studying up on the inner self and ki, when they learn there was an attack in Candlekeep. Several pages were stolen by monks of the Immortal Lotus. The party sets off to put a stop to the dastardly monks, and head into the Cloakwood. The party arrives and begins scouting out the place. They send in a raven and a lion, the lion does not return. The group steps inside, and are ambushed by monks led by Steele Crane. The fight goes quickly, and they head off to fight the leader, Bak Mei. Stepping into the main temple, the party fights more monks, including Jade Tigress and Bak Mei. The fighting is here is as loud as thunder, and fierce. Eventually, the party is able to beat down all the monks, and force Bak Mei to surrender. With his defeat, the recipe to make Gloves of Soul Catching is found.

Zaos of course made a copy of the recipe to figure out how to make it himself. But before he could collect all of the ingredients he found himself in another predicament...

(14th level) Zaos accompanied by Datt, Zook, Aeowulf, and Gado read a book about the fey, then a tattoo begins to grow on all of them, in addition to everyone missing their shadows. The avowed who gave them the book tells them of a lead in Baldurs Gate. In the city, the party talks to Yvandre Rillyn, whose father had suffered from the same curse of magical tattoos years ago. Several party members have the tattoos grow even bigger on them. The party finds some notes that lead them to Delimbiyran, an ancient ruin. In the ruin, they find the remains of a previous adventuring party, lots of undead, and even the ghost of the person that wrote the book they all read. The Scriviner says that the arch-fey must be summoned and defeated or else the curse will destroy them. Inside, the party summons forth Nintra Siotta, the Princess of the Shadow Glass. She invites them to join her court, and the party refuses. A fight ensues. Aeowulf's tattoos grow too much, and he transforms into class and shatters into millions of pieces. Shadow Glass Warriors spring forth from mirrors all over, and the party gets into an intense fight. Aeofel, the cousin of the slain man, joins in on the fight. The party is hurting all over, and just before more people die, the arch fey shatters, and the party runs away. As the ruins collapse, they hear the arch fey scream out one last time. Hopefully the Princess of Shadow Glass is gone for good...

But the last adventure was the one that scarred the monk the most...

(16th level) Victor, Thraxis, Tavarock and of course  Zaos all get infected with Xanthoria, a plague spreading across the land. They must immediately set off to find the source of the plague, which appears to be from a druid that obtained lichdom. If they don't act quick enough, they will succumb to the plague!

Teleported to the entrence, the party makes their way into a cave filled with fungus. Inside, they meet Thunderwing, a sad sprite that is missing her friends. She joins the party as they press further in. As they continue on, they stumble across a cavern, inside of which poison vines strike out against them. Everyone dodges the poison, but then a death knight and a mass of white poison ivy begin to assault the party.

The party immediately get blasted by magical eye rays and hellfire. Victor is knocked out and bleeds to death on the ground. Tavarock is disintegrated, and crumbles into dust. Thraxis is petrified in place, stuck here for all of time. Zaos hobbles away, but not before slaying the death knight with a dart. With the party defeated, Xanthoria reigns supreme.

Being an Elf, Zaos’s natural resistance to poison had him able to venture out and search for another group of adventures to take on what he couldn’t do to cure the plague. Hopefully, this time accompanied with his wisdom, they won’t fail again.
