Anthony Jimenez

Backstory - Anthony figured out he was gay from a pretty young age. It was something that he accepted pretty quickly, however he knew that it was also something that his parents wouldn’t approve of. They were extremely religious people and they were very homophobic. So, as much as he didn’t want to, Anthony hid this part of himself. He was doing what he could to just survive until he was old enough to move out and live on his own. Anthony was big into dancing and theatre, and in school, he was always a part of the drama club and classes. When he was able to, he’d join. He loved the over the top people that he’d get to work with, the spotlight, and just getting to perform. Dancing especially was the thing he loved to do the most, and even if his father thought of it as a ‘sissy’ activity, he still allowed his son to take dancing classes. Anthony was a natural at it, and he only strived to perfect his technique. But everything stopped for him one day when his mother found a gay magazine under his bed when tidying his room. This didn’t go over too well. It’s a day that haunts Anthony, and he wishes he could just forget it happened. There was a ton of screaming, disgusting language thrown at him, and finally his parents kicking him out for being a disgusting homosexual. At this time, he felt pretty hopeless. He was kicked out with nowhere to go, no money, and only the clothes on his back. He lived pretty close to New York City at the time, so he thought that maybe he’ll travel there and he’ll be able to get a job as a performer. It is a city that is filled with the arts.

But, he wasn’t so lucky. Anthony tried to find any sort of job, but he had a hard time getting one being only 15. He had no money and no place to stay in one of the most dangerous cities in the world. He barely scraped by performing dances in times square and receiving tips. However, that still barely kept him alive. He started making connections with other homeless youth, and he would hang around some others for a bit, but eventually they either died, moved on, or tried to take advantage of Anthony. As time went on, and years passed along with many friends, Anthony started to wonder why he was even trying. He was going so long between meals, and things were just getting worse and worse. Anthony was at his lowest point, and he almost did the unthinkable. However, just when he needed a guardian angel, he found one. One by the name of Kandi Luster. Kandi was a trans woman who was into the ballroom scene. She had her own house, and she was looking for talent and people to maybe call family. She discovered him while he was performing in a park to try and scrounge up some change to eat something. Kandi was incredibly impressed, and knew she could use someone like Anthony. And so she took him in. Kandi saved Anthony that day, and he knew he was forever in her debt. But Kandi was a kind soul, and she treated Anthony like her own. She introduced Anthony to the glitz, the glamor, and the cutthroat business of the ballroom scene. Anthony fell in love. It was filled with queer people like him, wanting a place to belong and it was just what he needed. He was able to perform and do what he loves to do. And most importantly, he found a family in those in the House of Luster, which was founded by Kandi. For the first time in years, Anthony really found people he loved and cared for as family. They still struggled to get by, however they managed and respected and loved each other. And that’s all Anthony needed. 

Personality - At first glance, Anthony seems to have an intimidating demeanor to him. However, he is a very easy going person. He’s pretty chill and tends to just go with the flow. Anthony is calm, and tends to keep a cool head in stressful situations. Anthony oozes charisma. He is an extrovert who has a way with words and he’s able to easily blend in with different groups of people. He gets along with others and he tends to make friends pretty easily. However, he never really gets super close to people. He has some slight trust issues, and he’s always on edge around others. He is a very intuitive and observant person, and he tends to use his intuition to try and read others. He wants to try and sniff out a people’s intentions to make sure they’re not trying to hide something underneath. He himself can come off as a little disingenuous to people who are especially receptive to other people’s emotions. However, to most people, he’s just a really friendly, but flirty guy with an intimidating exterior. Anthony is someone who relies solely on his instincts to get by. He always tries to scope out a situation before taking initiative. To Anthony, being impulsive can only lead to disastrous results. He’s looking out for himself first and foremost after all. 

Overall, Anthony is a pretty chill and carefree guy. He can come off as flirty, especially when there’s a cute guy involved. However, this is really mostly for fun. He’s somewhat afraid of actual commitment, and gets uneasy if something like that is brought up. It’s not that he doesn’t want something like that, it’s just he doesn’t really know how to deal with those emotions well and having to put full trust into someone like that makes him uncomfortable to think about. This does make Anthony a bit lonely as he’s too afraid of getting too close to anyone. His carefree nature can make him a bit immature however. Sometimes, Anthony will become stubborn and believe he knows what is best for him, when that’s not always the case. Especially when it comes to authority figures, he can be a bit rebellious with them and get himself into trouble that way. He tends to think he’s always in the right, and can be pretty stubborn about this. 

One thing about Anthony is that he comes across as cocky. His flirty nature can turn some people off, and his care-free personality can make him come across as completely uncaring to others. Anthony does have a bit of an ego though, and a lot of it stems from his on-point intuition and observation skills. He can actually be somewhat reliable when he wants to be, but him being on the lazier side of things makes this a bit rare. He does have a good heart to him though, and if there is someone who is really troubled, Anthony doesn’t mind helping them out as best as he can. He knows the best thing to do for a person in need is to help them. If someone hadn’t helped him, then who knows if he’d even still be here.  

Anthony is someone who takes a while to really warm up and trust someone, but once that barrier is broken, he is pretty loyal. He’ll always try to keep the best interest of a close one in mind, and will look out for them as best as he can. He’s someone who truly believes that you choose your family. To him, if someone does something important enough for him, he’d consider them family and would fight on their side…to a certain extent. Anthony doesn't want to be like his birth parents and turn his back on family, the people that are supposed to have your back no matter what. However at the end of the day, he’s looking out for himself first and foremost. If he has to choose between him and someone else, Anthony is going to choose himself 100 percent of the time. As much as he does cherish the people he is closest to, he isn’t going to prioritize them over himself. But if his neck isn’t on the line, then he’ll be looking out for his close ones to the best of his ability. If you screw with Anthony or any of his close ones though, prepare for the fires of hell to reign down on you. He doesn’t take too kindly to such things, and he can become a bit scary when provoked. However, it takes a lot for this to happen
