Summary

23516264_1zAkah8UoLNRit3.png

She wanted to be an explorer. She'd heard tales of other worlds, of lands far beyond the reaches of the Trinity Tree, full of wonders beyond her imagination.

But no. Fate put her there, beneath the tree's branches, where her family kept her. "Under the goddess's watchful eye," they said, "you will be safe and healthy." As though living her whole life rooted to the same spot as some old tree would cause her heart to beat as it should. As though by giving up her freedom, her chance to live her own life, would somehow cure her, save her.

She wanted to be an explorer. And she would be one, goddess be damned.

There was some guilt to be had when word came of the army of decay and she felt not worry or fear, but relief at the idea that perhaps the war would cut away the roots that held her ingrained there. But, though the others might have felt differently if they'd known, she couldn't blame herself. Not after spending so long as a prisoner of the circumstances of her birth.

And when the portals opened that brought the felines to the goddess's realm, she saw them and knew what she would do. When the time came for them to leave, she would go with them.

Trivia

  • Virva has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition which causes thickening ventricle walls. Due to this, she developed a heart murmur at a young age, which caused her family to be rather overprotective of her. Despite her condition progressing over time, causing instances of asthma-like breathing difficulties, lightheadedness, muscle weakness, and occasional fainting spells due to tachycardia, Virva insists that it's not a big deal, at times going so far as to say it's nothing even while on the verge of collapse, out of resentment for her family's history of treating her as what she views as a "poor, weak child who can't do anything on her own and needs the goddess's protection."
  • Virva's name means will-o'-the-wisp, in reference to her event edit of wisp fur and glowing eyes, as well as their appearing to travelers like The Wayfarers in folklore and her idea of being perceived as a weak, fragile little wisp of a cat.
