Background: Actually dead, but an insane deity of love and unity forcibly removed his soul from the cycle of reincarnation, stripped his memories, gave him a body and a new name (which he hates), and had him ""educated"" by the deity's cultists high priests. Varis was ""accidentally"" summoned into the prime material plane by """someone""" drawing a particular card from an extremely cursed Harrow Deck. For daring to ask WTF was going on, he was abandoned by his deity and stripped of his sweet magic powers almost immediately.

Since this was almost entirely Elaryn's fault, she was goaded (by people with an actual conscience) into helping Varis out, and so has hired him as her assistant.

Elaryn attempted to teach him "proper magic," but Varis couldn't wrap his head around spell preparation. After learning of her status as a demigod, he was allowed to channel divine magic through a contract with her (regaining his Omdura abilities) on the conditions that he doesn't start the old cult back up and doesn't "make it weird."

He proceeded to develop a turbo-crush on her and make it VERY weird.

Personality: A hopeless romantic, very charismatic, but also oblivious to a lot of societal norms due to his rigid upbringing on an entirely different plane. Luckily, he's pretty sociable and quick on the uptake.
Generally optimistic, in spite of everything.
Can be a cunning little scamp when memories from his past life starts bleeding through.
Always ready with an excuse for Elaryn's atrocious behavior.

Abilities: Fire and poison immunity. Selective Antimagic Field. Teleportation. Also decent at melee combat.
Runs a Phase Spider farm and uses their webs to craft various extradimensional storage devices.

Appearance: Just draw a Dunmer with green eyes and make him a himbo. Grey skin, glowing emerald eyes, black hair that is graying at the temples, though whether that's due to aging, stress, or something else is anyone's guess. Extensive Caster's Tattoos over both hands and forearms. No navel, because he wasn't born.
I heard Varis had an eight-pack. That Varis was shredded.

Wardrobe: Mostly designer kurtas. Way too much jewelry. Occasional sunglasses.

Trivia: Has an extensive garden that he meticulously tends.
