Occupation: Freelancer and co-owner of the Requiem music store. Requiem is a front for his and Reuben’s business, in which people can hire them for any number of unsavory jobs from information gathering to discreet murder. These services can be accessed by requesting to speak to either of Arty or Reuben’s code names (Caesura or Reprise) while in the shop.
Personality: Even in his secret, criminal identity, Arty is extremely personable. He often exploits his Christian morals and Southern drawl so that people either underestimate him or find him more trustworthy than he truly is. He’s more in the freelancing business for the thrill than anything else, and he delights in completing difficult tasks more than he enjoys getting paid for them. He was raised competitive and violent, by a militaristic father in an isolated environment, and sometimes has trouble separating those instincts from socializing in an acceptable way. He finds this habit frustrating, and speaks very little about his past, if he can help it. Gambling is his biggest vice - again, for the thrill, rather than the money lost or earned.
Additional Info:
- Arty is deeply religious, wears a cross necklace even when in costume, and goes to mass every Sunday (confession considerably more often than that). He has a pretty friendly relationship with some of the priests at his local church.
- Did a brief stint as a Vantage assassin when he first arrived in El Asilo about eight years ago.
- Lost his eye in a fight with his twin Apollo over their inheritance after their father died. Ran away from home shortly after.
- Got a mechanical eye prosthetic as a perk of working for Vantage and kept it for personal use, only uses it when he’s out in costume and prefers to wear a glass eye at all other times. Covers his scars with makeup when he’s out of costume.
