A Curious Set of Clues

Daisy was born with her twin, Dandelion, to her Mother and her father, S. Growing up, Daisy didn’t notice any strange happenings, as her father and Mother were very loving. However, as she grew older, Daisy noticed how her father and mother interacted- S would seemingly disappear for days while Mother looked over Daisy and her brother. Occasionally other children would stay with Mother while S was away, but Daisy never understood why. They were strange kids; they all looked vastly different from her and her brother, and they could all change into different creatures that Daisy couldn’t mimic, no matter how hard she tried. Despite this, she didn’t dwell on the differences, and instead enjoyed their company. She was, overall, a very outgoing child.

While different children phased in and out of Mother’s life, Daisy and Dandy seemed to be constants. S only seemed to be kind while Mother was around, which confused Daisy, but she was also starting to catch on to the kind of person Mother was. Mother would begin to control Daisy and Dandy’s choices- whether it was in clothes, hobbies, interests or friends, Mother had something to say about it, and what she wanted mattered more than anything else. Daisy protested a few times, sure, but she cowered in the light of direct confrontation from her Mother. Unlike Dandy, who was loudly and boldly rebellious against his Mother’s wishes, Daisy hunkered down and went along with her Mother’s bidding.

Okay Mother, This is Getting Old

As Daisy grew older, so did her fear and general distaste for her mother. She became something of a rebel in school; she would cheat on tests, stay out late, and drink and smoke while skipping class. She was still dressed strangely, due to her Mother, but she was always careful about her appearance; her father was very clear that she and Dandy should stay hidden from the public, and take the appearances of regular humans. To be ostracized from their peers, well, that would be the ultimate form of doom for Daisy and Dandy. So Daisy stayed obedient at home and rebelled when she could at school.

When Daisy was in high school, she began to see her Mother’s true Shapeshifter nature. While her Mother appeared human most of the time, Mother let her disguise fall when she was at home. This proved to be for the worst; Mother began to control Daisy even more, making it clear she cared about the lineage of their Shapeshifter genes more than the happiness of her children. When Daisy started dating a boy Mother deemed ‘unfit’, she disposed of him herself (by eating him, unfortunately), and Daisy avoided romantic relationships for the entirety of high school afterwards. She felt trapped, a feeling that was only amplified when Dandy ran away from home. Her father was seemingly falling ill faster and faster, which not only scared Daisy, but left her feeling even more alone. Her rebellious image faded as she became more and more stressed and pressured. Mother controlled Daisy’s entire life, and Daisy wanted to find a way out.

Redemption Arc! Starring: Free Education

Daisy, while still in high school, was enrolled in a high school nursing program by her Mother. The ultimate plan was to become a doctor; Mother wished to have one of her children become the community’s doctor, and becoming certified as a nurse seemed like a good idea. Daisy complied, but she had plans beyond her Mother’s. Buckling down to study hard and fix her ruined grades, Daisy excelled in her studies and was accepted into a medical program at a local school. While in classes, Daisy discovered the love she had for helping others through medicine. It wasn’t long until Daisy was a certified nurse, and she was immediately put into the community’s clinic to work and study.

While Mother’s plan was ending, Daisy’s was just beginning. She worked in the clinic for a short time, helping Shapeshifters of the community, but on a planned night, Daisy took action. She and her father, with some of their belongings from home, ran away from home to an apartment she had started renting in advance so they could have a place to stay. Daisy and her father were safe; it seemed temporary, despite Daisy’s secrecy of its location, but being safe was all that mattered.

Being a certified nurse, Daisy planned to heal her father, who had suddenly become worse. There were times Daisy doubted her decision- it almost seemed as if her father grew more ill the farther they got away from Mother- but he began to level out into a moderately sick, grouchy man. Daisy found a job with Ryo, a doctor studying supernatural beings, and on the side she studied the disease that had taken over her father’s life.

Oh To Be In Love!

As Daisy worked with Ryo, discovering he was a doctor for an underground network of monster mobsters, she willingly learned all about different species, and eventually developed a serious crush on her boss. She received anonymous notes from a secret admirer for months, complete with gifts and poems, which Daisy treasured, even going as far to do handwriting tests with patients. When her secret admirer ended up being Ryo, the two began to date and are happily a couple.

Daisy lives with Ryo and her father as a way to keep an eye on him while the two aim to heal him. Everyday she works harder than a last to save her father and any monster under her care.
