Profile

Hayal Name: Kair (From Kekui and Noir)

If only she hadn't been born. Life was good...

Life was normal...

Until the mother found herself falling for a human male and had an affair with him, one that resulted in an unseemly pregnancy, that of Kair's. The mother's pregnancy caused great friction in the family with her actual husband and older child. The mother, warring between the desire to terminate her pregnancy and to keep it alive, while also conflicted over her feelings of shame and desire for the wretched human. The father, upset and betrayed, but wanting to preserve their family's peace of mind and image even as his own mind festered with hurt and anger. In the end, the baby was kept and borne, and to everyone's horror, looked and acted nothing like a proper Hayal. Kair hardly even looked related to the mother.

Kair was abnormal, born an empty shell, and this only tore the family further apart. The presence of emotions was an uncommon and fleeting experience for Kair. Bodily urges such as hunger and sleep came rarely, and she seemingly had no desires. Her powers were strange and defied normal capabilities. The mother blamed herself, and the father tried to care for the abomination in their home, but no one could blame him for feeling unease and wariness instead. Kair brought a sense of unease and apprehension to all those who gazed upon her. Sometimes, one only had to be in her general area, even. In the end, their family broke apart, and Ayori fractured it further when he left at the earliest opportunity, unable to bear what had become of his home and parents.

Kair was glad. She could not express her emotions outwardly, but she was glad. Her brother hated her, and it...hurt. He was also hurt and so perhaps his leave would help him. But she could not leave. She was too young still, and her parents feared letting her go into the wider world, of what that could cause. So they kept her there. One could consider her a prisoner, certainly when the family continued to fracture further without Ayori's presence and she became a scapegoat for her parents' miseries. Her lack of emotions only furthered the strife and beliefs that she was a curse, perhaps even a demon twisted into a Hayal's form.

Whatever she was, Kair eventually too, fled her supposed home, having matured enough to do so capably. But now she was in a world she had little understanding of...she was lost...but that was fine. No one was calling her a monster, she wasn't hurting anyone...so Kair set off. Wandering from place to place, feeding when needed even as she hid herself from the gazes of humans and Hayals alike. Rumors surfaced of an invisible entity in the vast sands. Was she that entity? Perhaps. Kair found herself feeling an unusual emotion as she fed on humans and observed the lives of others - jealousy. They smiled, they cried, they argued. Their lives were full of color. People were so vivid. She saw it in their actions, in their dwellings, in their occupations. She...wanted that too. But she was an abomination...so she would go about achieving her own "color" her way, then.

She did so by eventually settling down at a remote oasis. Scenic and with a roomy cave that was difficult to reach but lent a great view of the oasis. Over time, Noir fed and pilfered from the travelers and caravans that used the watering hole, nicking objects that caught her interest here and there. Occasionally sitting at the entrance to her cave, hidden, but as close as possible, to hear the resting people's stories. It was a slow and placid life. Until Alyanas paid a visit, hearing tales of the invisible entity and wondering of the true cause behind those rumors...
