DIANE ELMORE

camarilla lackey ∙ overworked servire

The childe of a well-established Ventrue seneschal in the Camarilla stronghold of 20th-century Chicago, Diane has spent her entire unlife as a pawn in the great game of Camarilla politics. As a servire she plays the role of messenger and manipulator, a kind of low-level diplomat tasked with matters too trivial or too risky for her betters to handle. The work is dangerous, physically and emotionally exhausting, and not fulfilling. For more than five decades she's hoped that a promotion is just around the corner. It hasn't come yet, but she doesn't see any way out.

  • Diane's speech is fluent and precise, the product of a first-rate private school education. It can often come across as patronizing.
  • Diane is the sort of person who keeps the television on all the time to make the house feel less empty.
  • During the 90s Diane was in a long-distance relationship with a Nosferatu man in Baton Rouge. It didn't last, but they still talk.
  • In more than a century of life, Diane has never been outside the US.
  • She still brushes her teeth, despite everything.

Diane stands too still, carries herself without the ease of life, owlish and tight-faced. Her eyes are large and shiny, dark beneath the shadow of her brow. They move slowly, rarely resting, as if she's searching for something or wary of some unseen danger. She dresses in clothing that would have been fashionable five or ten years ago, favoring simple, understated items in muted colors. Her wardrobe is chosen to complement the natural shapes of her body: her long, lithe fingers and the graceful curve of her neck, the rounded line of her jaw and the slight dimple in the point of her chin. She looks like someone who is successful but not famous; her presence is weighty and noticeable in a way that is easy to forget as soon as she's gone.
