When Balthion was alive, he was involved in a gang operating in the black market, specializing in the illicit trade of harvested organs from the recently deceased. While carrying out an errand for his gang one fateful night, the grem fell victim to a brutal ambush planned by a rival group. He was assaulted and left for dead, barely hanging on as he bled profusely. While Dillon, a loyal friend, discovered him and promptly raced him to the hospital, aided by Balthion's gang leader, the massive blood loss would ultimately claim Balthion's life.

However, upon Balthion's passing, his physical state underwent a transformation, signalling the onset of his metamorphosis into a mysterious creature known as a Cypherus. Recognizing this transformation, Dillon and friends discreetly snuck Balthion out of the hospital to prevent him from being turned into GremCorps or worse, executed.

Now as a Cypherus, Balthion's memories of his past are fragmented, but he finds solace in Dillon's presence, as they guide him through this new life. Dillon has made the conscious decision to shield Balthion from the darker aspects of his past, such as the grim circumstances surrounding his death.

Despite his newfound powers, Balthion retains his innate kindness and protective nature. He would often use his abilities to safeguard those dear to him if needed. Additionally, Balthion possesses a charismatic and fun-loving demeanour, often seeking enjoyment and quality moments with his friends. Notably, a deep bond formed between Dillon and Balthion, ultimately blossoming into a romantic relationship.
