Medah is one of the larger cities of Dimarq, and a bastion of trade thanks to it’s location between the Port of Khare and the capital of Nayzanahar. It’s a city known for its artisans and for it’s Grand Bazaar - considered one of the great wonders of the region - and for it’s colorful collection of peoples and traditions. It is divided into quite distinct quarters, the borders of which are strictly enforced under the current sultan.
More about Medah:

Distant relatives of the sultan, noble families, and only the most successful of merchant families inhabit the Gold Quarter of Medah (“Noble Estates” on map). Its proximity to the military residences make it an overall safe quarter, but only if you’ve got prestige or coin to your name.

The service quarter is mostly made up of palace servants who do not reside on the grounds, or the families of those that do, plus many of the servants and personnel of inhabitants of the Gold Quarter and visiting merchants or dignitaries. It’s a quite encapsulated community, with it’s own small selection of shops, banks, and unions.

The Sultan’s personal guard - the Janidan - train in the military quarter but reside on the palace grounds. Both the city guard and Ra-Hamun’s special military units - called the Sipahi - train and reside in the military quarter. Guardsman presence is quite strong in the northernmost areas of the city, but weaker in the south where it’s made up for by mercenary bands working security.

The administration quarter handles immigration, record-keeping, merchant documentation, licensing and passes, land rights, land disputes, among many other menial governmental tasks. The quarter contains most of the banks in the city, both reputable and non, and most of the lending institutions. It’s also home to the Medanite Gaming Commission that runs the assorted races (horses and grypai) and other legal gambling operations.
