His family was poor so they put him to work for a high class royal vampire family as a sort of companion when he was young- meaning that he would work for one of the vampires as a sort of servant and be used for blood when needed. He was assigned to the vampires daughter who he feel I’m love with (this of course was not welcomed and he kept it a secret). As he got older he was taught how to wield a sword and became a sort of guard to her well. Although he was never good at fighting since he was never an aggressive person and very over compassionate was afraid of hurting people when training.
