Kekoa was born and raised in Port Peril, the child of a migrant fisherman and a local barmaid. Where the, uh, wereshark part comes from, she doesn't know-- the father claims a witch cursed the mother, and the mother blames the father for insulting some sea god in his travels. Regardless, it doesn't seem to bother her too much, and in fact she leverages it in her work as a tavern bouncer.

Kekoa isn't one to start fights-- that's not in her job description-- but her blunt manner of speaking may lead others to believe otherwise, and she rarely backs down from a challenge. Around friends, she's surprisingly mellow and likes to listen to other people talk. Rumor has it she has a knack for reading relationships and offering romantic advice.

She's not terribly happy about the press-ganging situation, but as far as she's concerned, she's not trapped on a ship with a bunch of bloodthirsty pirates-- they're trapped on here with her.
