A geneticist under the employ of a fringe organization, Azucar is responsible for studying the underlying causes of Intenational Incident M-A71.p, a bizarre outbreak of widespread genetic mutations that has threatened the global population for the last roughly fifteen years. However, while there are many in institutions all over the world who work toward the same goal, Azucar—and the secretive organization they work for—have an additional motive: unlocking those secrets in order to figure out how they may be harnessed for future gain.

Boasting a Ph.D. in bioengineering with a focus in molecular genetics, Azucar was tempted away from their previous research position after several academic publications in their name caught the eye of recruiters from the organization. Promised fairly vast latitude in their work and a wealth of resources with little oversight, in exchange for a stringent contract, the curious and driven Azucar could scarcely refuse, happily accepting their new career path and all that it might hold.

All those employed at the organization live professional lives out of the public eye, and all have their quirks (and questionable morals), but Azucar remains notably infamous even among this fringe bunch. Though unquestionably a genius, they have a reputation for erratic fits of emotion and unpredictable behavior, particularly when it comes to interpersonal relations. Strangely, the only one who seems able to keep them at all in check is a man be the name of Shio Ishida, a curt and distant pathologist also under the organization's employ. A socially unpopular figure for far different reasons, the pair are seemingly complete opposites—though perhaps it is precisely that which seems to keep them together.

When it comes to their work, Azucar has few limits in what they will think of or act on, and no subject is off-limits—including themself. Often, they will find excuses to join in on field expeditions to observe outbreaks firsthand; though not formally invited, few have the guts to say no to them. Occasionally, they have even been known to look into new data on their own times, company resources on hand or no. With such a dull sense of danger, in fact, it is quite a wonder they are still alive.

Despite everything, Azucar is brilliant, vivacious, and a promising—if troubling—figure. The work that they do and the knowledge they help bring about into the world will either bring destruction, or perhaps aid in the birth of a new paradigm. Only time will tell.
