You’re all your own work of art!

An ex-tutor from Wishfort mansion and weapon forge, who just goes with the flow. Ditzy, a little clumsy but terminally good-natured and encouraging, Al was a popular teacher among their young charges, always ready for a hug or a laugh, even with the gruffer teenage pupils among them.

Despite being raised in a renown magician family, and trained in the art of physical magic since childhood, her best efforts only produced mediocre results in weaponsmithing abilities, so she was just happy to just be tagging along and playing class clown. She wouldn't know what to do as a leader, anyhow. Her comic mediocrity was a bit of a puzzle to her co-workers, but it was hard to get mad at her cornball antics, and even then, hard to get her to improve (or want to). Prestige or excellence never meant much to Al, but hey, she's glad it was meaningful work for somebody!

She was considered a rough-and-tumble type in her youth, so maybe that's why she has so much sympathy for more troublesome students... her love was mixed with pity that these so-called defects would not be able to serve their greater purpose in the forge: all kids deserve the best. Despite her broad affections, she may never have actually reconsidered the dark side to Wishfort's work, even after retirement when all, including headmaster Millamant, appeared to have regrets. But why think about awful things, and make awful faces? Plus, that mug of hers seem downright incapable of anything but smiling.

  Trivia
  • An enthusiastic traveller who is easily sidetracked by anything interesting- and a little scatterbrained - all means she wasn't sent on missions away from the workplace very often. Once she was left to her own devices, without Wishfort or family directive, she has no goals of her own other than planning tomorrow’s breakfast and finding someone to chat with. Stress-free, at least.
  • Al is a fan of art and music, she likes to see how the kids express themselves! She cannot distinguish bad art from good, so guess what... it's all good to her! She's not a great artist herself, but kids liked to work with her because she's so enthusiastic.
  • A terrible chef, but a decent baker. She can make a totally sweet pancake... that's baking right...?
  • She's laid back in almost all situations, but kids (or adults for that matter) crying make her jittery.
  • She used to be a beefy (but rather foolhardy) brawler when she first joined Wishfort. Notably she suffered a massive face injury during weapon testing, though it didn’t put her off at all. She was just as happy to hear the business was opening a school and, while the other tutors all restyled themselves a little, Al altered her entire physique to look like a friendly lil auntie.
  • Al is very much a follower and a yes-man, happily following whoever is richest or loudest. Perhaps because they resemble boisterous children... she doesn’t think much about consequences but her ambitions are so minuscule it rarely matters. She believes anything can be patched up when the time comes.

Weaponry

The Tarasque of Wishfort.

All said, she's not too impressive. Al can only create simplistic shapes; they are somewhat versatile because that's her family trademark at which she was raised to perform the bare minimum, but Al herself is hardly the most masterful of her bloodline.

Al's personal pieces are oversize sewing implements. She has 5 giant pushpins and an even larger needle, which uses a way that is half sword, half magic wand. They can all be manipulated to fly and pin up/stitch down enemies. They aren't especially hardy against other weapons but fairly agile and can cause quite a bit of damage to flesh and bone.

Al is also only mediocre at sewing despite that being her weapon gimmick. She made these weapons because big straight-line shapes were easy to form, and well, she always had a thing for spikes.

- Our progress may seem stilted, but one must remain vigilant of the filth that stands in our way, Miss Amleth.

Al found this feral aristocrat on his way toward the city, picking fights in a bar. Having lived all his life in the medieval stylings of the Morningstar kingdom, Dain was in need of a guide to the modern world, and a teacher with a whole lot of patience. Missing her old students, Al took him on. Despite being an adult, Dain is a baby when it comes to dealing with life away from his castle and Al tries to help him out though her advice isn't always great, and her handling can be a bit rough - she'll pin him with needles to stop him from dragging people off for execution just because they won't wash their hands. Luckily, he doesn't seem to care about the poking, though he often flies into a rage when spoken to.

To Al, he's very much a troubled kid in need of a firm hand, encouragement and sometimes protection from the most unpleasant parts of the 'outside' as he calls it. At least he's clean, and all that yelling is definitely a sign of good health! Everyone's got potential to be the best!

Ex-boss

The Wishfort boss, definitely someone to keep an eye out for! Well okay, Al doesn't know where she is now, but Mil is probably doing just fine. Al always thought the old girl could use a vacation.

Catoble
Wishfort student

A favorite pupil of hers when she was teaching at Wishfort's schoolhouse, a very sweet and dutiful kid she's been watching over since he entered the first grade, whose always taking it upon himself to look after the younger ones. She continued to exchange letters with him even after he graduated, up until Wishfort closed. Mil didn't seem keen on anyone reconnecting with the students, but Al tried to make sure he has some way to keep in touch. He always did have such terrible anxiety over losing people - when he had to leave for college he cried for days about having to leave his brothers behind! Wherever he is now, it wouldn't be right to just leave him in the dark.

It's hard to give him a proper mailing address now that she's on the road, though. If only she or Dain could figure out how to rustle up an email address...
