Kaen Peiffer

Kaen (Kai-en), is a tiefling rogue. Probably the most unrogue-like rogue out there; nothing matters more to Kaen than her friends and family, as she was orphaned at a young age. Nonconfrontational, but will stand her ground if pushed. She has a calm, almost motherly personality, and likes to curl up with a cup of tea and a book whenever she has the chance. Kaen has always wanted a big family, and talks about adopting children with her wife, Kali.

Backstory: Part of a group called the Valenwood archivers, Kaen was searching for a stolen family heirloom. Most of Kaen’s childhood was spent moving from city to city with her father in his traveling market. In her late teen years, a small group of bandits snuck into their camp and killed Kaen’s father and stole his gold. For unknown reasons, they left Kaen alive. The bandits must have seen the obsidian ring but didn’t take the black rock assuming it had no value. Kaen wandered the woods with her family’s ring and what was left of her father’s merchandise until she stumbled upon an Elven Village. Years pass and she set up a magic shop named “Wisp, Lock and Key” where she sold magical odds and ends. History repeated itself and a larger group of bandits and raiders broke into her shop and stole most of her wares, this time taking the ring Kaen had locked in a display case behind the counter. Entrusting her shop to a neighbor, Kaen went on a journey to track down the thieves. She went from village to village searching for information before arriving at the Kingdom of Cretes Landing.
It was here she joined the Thieves Guild. Making some allies in exchange for information, Kaen made her way to Valenor where one of her informants slipped some information about a job with an insanely high pay rate. This job will lead her to join the Valenwood archivers. Traveling the world of the Valen, in an effort to save the world from an unknown evil with a group of 4 others. During her character arc, she discovers that she is the grandaughter of the lost princess of the Infernal Plane. A battle with her cousin ensues, and she is crowned Empress upon her return after the "final battle" that saved the world from the Grimm. She now lives in the Infernal Plane with her wife, Kali.
