★ Sludge ★

An alien attempting to escape his upbringing, Sludge is a gentle soul who simply wants to be able to live for himself. Members of his species are notoriously hostile and aggressive, thriving over gaining as much power as possible through whatever means. Wanting to break away from this, Sludge managed to escape when sent on a mission alongside Brown to sabotage a ship piloted by humans. When on said ship, Sludge managed to bond with those onboard, including Yellow, the man who would eventually become his romantic partner. Eventually, Sludge ended up killing Brown in self defense and in order to fully protect the human crew. Although uncertain at first, the humans eventually decided on giving Sludge a chance to work alongside them, and the alien was quick to accept the offer. Ever since, Sludge has allowed himself to relax and exist for himself, finally free from those who raised him.

Since escaping, Sludge has slowly worked to learn more about the universe around him. Having barely any proper education aside from "Kill, eat, and reproduce to survive", he isn't the smartest creature out there (despite being able to mask this lack of education around strangers quite effectively). However, he adores learning about all sorts of things, doing his best to retain as much information as possible while also asking as many questions as possible.

He dreams of being able to settle down with those he cares about, longing for as peaceful of a life as possible. Though his past upbringing and trauma certainly have a massive impact on the process, finally being in a safe environment has allowed him to experience peace for the first time; a feeling that he is extremely thankful for and never will take for granted.

• Despite having the title of 'sergeant', Sludge despises authority. Along with this, it isn't the most accurate title either; his species uses various militiristic titles as a means of idenitfying themselves in their hierarchy, and to intimidate those unaware of said hierarchy. It's a difficult thing to break free of due to his upbringing, so he generally prefers to just be known as 'Sludge' rather than his full title.

• His 'visor' is quite good at emoting expressions. Around strangers, he keeps his 'visor' still and natural, however, when around those he cares about, he allows himself to emote in quite dramatic ways.

• Although generally intimidating at first to those he isn't close to, Sludge is a big softie at heart-- it just takes some time for him to open up.
• 
  
• He is very easy to fluster; although he can hide it around those unfamiliar with him, when around those he trusts, he doesn't mask it.

• His 'suit' is actually his body. He is capable of morphing it to similar looking forms, though he prefers just keeping his form as-is.

• Sometimes when quite exhausted, Sludge morphs into a more 'natural' form, involving his fingers becoming a bit more claw-like, among other things. He is generally completely unaware of this happening.

• When Sludge is sent into a state of distress, black, inky ooze drips out from the bottom of his 'visor'. Despite its appearance, it basically behaves like saliva, and surprisingly enough, it doesnt stain things. That certainly makes post mental breakdown cleanups far less of a pain! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

• Sludge constantly battles with his intense C-PTSD due to his severe trauma; he also frequently experiences severe episodes of anxiety, paranoia, and depression. He works as hard as he can to recover, and ever since meeting Yellow, he has made a lot of progress. However, sometimes his mental health is unpredictable and he'll simply be out of it for a while. He's doing his best.
