Istava

the deity of life and brother to Vastava.

Long ago, after an intended takeover of his sibling's land in a misguided attempt to improve it, Istava was run from the continent entirely by Vastava in a fit of disgust and rage. Istava and a group of followers travelled by sea for a time, turned away several times by previously colonized regions after news of his attempted takeover spread, before colonizing a southern, nearly inhospitable frigid island.

For his people Istava gave rise to little vegitation despite the land's inability to provide life otherwise. They were not a thriving people, and little by little his mass of followers that surrounded him dwindled as the land claimed them. Tiny settlements dot the areas surrounding Istava's palace, and a few dozen descendants are all that remain.

Many times he's attempted to bring life to the land with only a few successes, and those successes each and every time allow his few people more places to live, thrive, and multiply.

Embittered by all of this, however, Istava has grown particularly irritable, cold, and unapproachable, but every few years still sends his courier to deliver pleas to Vastava for his land back, in a more hospitable and fruitful place -- the place where some of his followers still live to this day, in small groups that curse the deity of death's unforgiveness toward their brother.

His kin has not yet accepted his apology, nor returned a word to him since his exile.
