An tall intimidating eldritch creature who is actually a big nerd and hopeless romantic. He's eager to share his love of spiders and nature to anyone brave enough to come close to him and even more eager to woo them if they happen to be a female. As you can imagine, it's very hard to find a women who likes spiders, has a compatible personality, AND is willing to date a 7 foot tall eldritch man.
Thankfully his penchant for arachnids distracts him from his failures to find a date who meets his high standards.
Spariss is a roughly 7 foot tall eldritch creature with broad shoulders, long arms, and a lower half that resembles spiders legs. He can press all of the spider legs together so that he can walk bipedally. His head is usually wearing a wooden crate, which houses a family of huntsman spiders. Without it, his head is a formless black mass with billowing tendrils and multiple yellow eyes. Spariss is rarely seen without his crate however. Usually only willing to take it off around people he completely trusts. All of Spariss' "fur" is actually large nests of daddy long legs which are not spiders at all but opiliones. Regardless, Spariss loves them anyways and allows them to nest safely on and around him. The opiliones are usually great safe introduction to spiders for those who are afraid of them as well.
It is unknown where Spariss came from or what his purpose is. His only concern is raising spiders, studying spiders, and romancing women so it's safe to say he has no ill intent towards humanity at least.

Personality Theme
Has a positive yet realistic outlook on life. He loves his spiders but knows survival of the fitness will dictate whether or not they get crushed by humans or eaten by predators. Only outright malicious harm to his spiders will draw his ire.
He will avoid troublesome scenarios whenever possible and becomes frustrated if finding himself in the middle of said trouble. Extreme patience is required when teaching him new ideas.
When deep in thought, he strokes his hand through the mass of daddy long legs nesting on his neck. This usually results in a few scampering loose.
The amount of daddy long legs scuttling about can usually be a good indicator of Spariss' mood.

Character Creation
This section serves as a record of how and when this character was created and how they've developed over the years. This is something mostly for myself to look back on but if you find it interesting, cool!
Done for a Halloween Promptober 2020. The theme was Spider.
Spariss' design was very loosely inspired by Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath where Stranger would hide his centaur legs in his boots for a two legged appearance but towards the end of the game would use them freely as four legs. As a kid I always thought it was a very cool to see the protagonist you're playing change appearance more drastically than a outfit change or fancy new gun.
