Hayden has difficulties expressing his feelings, a side effect of growing up in a household where he was expected to follow orders without complains. It leads to him being deemed as aloof and cold-hearted. He is not good with words -which are often blunt and to the point- and prefer to express his thoughts through actions. It is not initially easy to earn his loyalty, as he is a pessimistic and doubtful person, but he will always stay by his friends’ side through their toughest times once they have become close. He is a realist who will only believe what he sees and not what he hears. If Hayden makes a promise, he will put his life on the line to keep it, and the same goes for secrets. He prefers to plan instead of improvising and keeps everything neatly organized in order to know exactly where everything he needs is located at.

Growing up as the elder brother and heir of the family, a lot of expectations have been placed on Hayden, which he usually was willing to comply to. Manners were one of the fundamentals in the household, which became one of the first things that he learnt as a child. It started at the dinner table, where he was told to always sit up straight, put the napkin on his thighs, and eat in silence. Needless to say, family dinners were not the most jovial, but that was what he was used to; a family where etiquette was omnipresent while familial love was not. He was an obedient child and used to listen carefully to all he was told to do by his nanny in hopes of meeting his parents’ expectations, which he usually did. He was docile and intelligent for his age; a promising genius which very much pleased his progenitors.

They were however busy maintaining the business that they had climbed the ladder to accomplish, a well known Pokemon research company whose goal was to invent more methods to improve human lifestyle through Pokemons without harming them. Growing up, Hayden was mostly close with his twin sister who was younger than him by 20 minutes, as well as their nanny and the family Pokemon Chimecho.

He himself had no interest in becoming a Pokemon trainer, as he was not one for adventure. He much preferred to stay indoors and study about them through books and learning about how to become a good entrepreneur once he inherits the business. He was also not attracted to the time spent outdoors as he spent most of his time indoors in the comfort of his room. At the age of 20, his parents ordered him to go on his own adventure and challenge the league in order to get first hand experience about them. Although he was not exhilarated by the thought, it did make sense so he agreed to try it out.
