Rosario Rivera, also known as Charo, is a venezuelan girl who wants to become stronger, and help others. This AU is from a world where Venezuela isn't in complete shambles, though she also travels around north of South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Guyana, etc) helping people from lower social classes. She studied education therefore she spends a lot of time teaching people who didn't get the opportunity to attend middle school, but volunteers in multiple things.
She's outwardly serious, somewhat lacking emotion in her face. Despite her stoic exterior, she's a gentle, kind person. She believes the best for everyone and she tries her best everyday. She's empathetic and ready to listen to others. Doesn't talk too much, generally doesn't even raise her voice easily.
Self-sacrificing. She's so devoted to helping others that she has a savior complex- sometimes she'll try too hard. She often gives too much of herself without expecting anything back. Unfortunately she's very stubborn and has a hard time talking to those who don't share her same values. This is fine when it comes to a fascist, but it's also a problem when she talks to someone who's so depressed they can't function. She tries to improve people, no matter if they don't want to be improved.
Very anxious, having always been the teacher's pet, she always had the tendency of being 'more mature' and closer to the adults in her social circle. This was ok until she grew up and it left her without the skills to interact with those in her age range. After going to college and becoming an educator she's been more confident about interacting with others in a professional way, however she has very low self esteem and it plays her dirty. She's the kind of person who, sadly, doesn't follow her own advice too well.
Despite her internal anxiety, she gives off a calming vibe to others. Simply chilling next to her is extremely relaxing.
She grew up in a small town south of Venezuela with married parents and an older brother. She has always tried to be a good daughter and student, so much that she only knew how to do that, not interact with her classmates. Years passed and she got more and more teased about being withdrawn, and later bullied over it. She spent a while ostracized from her classmates until she gave in- she joined them in running away from their homes for a night, got into trouble and came back very scolded. She didn't want to do it, she just wanted to fit in, and it only gave her dismay.
After that, she stopped trying to fit in. She continued being the teacher's pet, continued being shy and closed off. She believed in her own values.
Her home life had always been peaceful, her brother moved to the nearest city to study engineering and after graduating high school Charo started studying education- though she didn't move for that, she just did the commute from her home town. After graduating she took her job as a social worker, traveling across the region to help people of her social class or lower. She often leads classes though she does participate in other social work related activities.
She's recently come in psychic and emotional connection with 8 other people around the world, her cluster.
As a homo sensorium or sensate, she's connected to 8 other people around the world- these people have been born at the exact same time as her, but haven't been awaken until recently. They have a psychic and emotional connection, being able to communicate with one another as if they were together physically despite actually being far apart.
While she, like everyone else, thought she was hallucinating at first, she actually really believes it's some call of nature and is very inspired by the spirituality of it- especially since her first encounter was with Lorelei, a very musical and whimsical character. Later on she met the rest of her cluster, and is slowly becoming their leader out of necessity.
Her cluster is a secret to everyone so far, though she has met another sensate out of her cluster, and that's interesting.
- Starchy foods, especially plantains, potatoes and yucca.
- Socialism. A Left Winged girl.
- Swimming. She'll swim on her everyday clothes even, if it's available.
- Bodies of water one can swim in, especially lakes. Doesn't know the sea much
- Helping people. Sometimes way too much.
- Sleeping... She sleeps in without meaning to, because sleeping is so enjoyable.
- Her culture and Latin American indigenous culture in general.
- Growing her own vegetables and owning a garden, gardening and agriculture in general.
- Fictional 'bad boys', especially in otomes (plays otomes sometimes -gasp-)
- Meat. Accepts eggs and dairy, but dislikes red meats especially.
- Capitalism. Obviously.
- Injustice. Imperialism. Fascism. I mean all the bad stuff.
- Getting up early. SHE HAS TO. She does. But she doesn't like it. She'd sleep 12+ hours a day.
- Going shopping. Mostly because getting clothes is hard for her.
- Real life 'bad boys' :/
- Is a vegetarian, or at least tries to. Sometimes she'll accept animal meat, especially in family reunions and such, but really prefers not to.
- Keeps a wooden mask as a symbol of her culture. It's shaped like a capybara.
- Learned to cook partly for herself since being a vegetarian is a little tricky where she's from, and partly because that's what's expected of a woman 😑
- Doesn't know she's asexual, currently believes she'll settle down with a Man eventually, but doubts that more and more lately. Especially since she came in contact with her cluster.
