Fell Swiftblade is the youngest member of the Royal Guard of Aurum, a large nature-centric nation primarily populated by kemonomimis and known for its powerful reservoir of magic. The majority of Royal Guards carry out detective-like duties across the kingdom, often pairing up with two mentors for initial training before they are given their own partner. Though seemingly aloof and enthusiastic most of the time, Fell does not possess his title just for show - he chased away a chimera during the ongoing War of Fiends that was haunting his hometown at the mere age of fifteen, and has claimed the creature as his mark. Now eighteen, Fell is quite content with carrying out the duties of a Royal Guard, but things get a little complicated when he's assigned his first new partner - a strange youth the same age as him, who seems like he has something to hide.

Summary
At his best, Fell is charismatic, brave, and an adventurer at heart, fond of discovering new knowledge - though he's primarily curious in how people from different cultures operate, he also loves discovering ancient and new mysteries alike. As a Royal Guard, his strengths are in his ability to collaborate with almost anyone, as well as his creative ways of tackling his duties. At his worst, Fell can be distracted, facetious, and restless. Most of this occurs at periods of time where he becomes withdrawn. Unknowing to most others, Fell gets easily anxious over small disputes and the like, causing him to become more quiet and question his actions. Additionally, he has grown good at using laughter as a coping mechanism - something he has learned over being somewhat alienated from the other people his age who never experienced the life of a royal guard. That being said, Fell does his best to balance the stress out with his hobbies. Some of his favourite things include singing (when no one's around to hear it), cooking, and collecting dried flowers for his scrapbook.

a township on the plains woke to face the sun
another had been taken by the monster's maws
ding dong ding dong the bell began to rang
and the mourning doves surrounding it began to sing.
a boy stood up on a lovely day
and all around him the flowers bloomed
he spoke of a way to end the war
but was met with judgemental eyes and mighty roars.
speaking, pleading, no one would hear the word
trekking through the cobbled streets though no one heard
tick tock tick tock said the gilded clock
and he knew from then his world had just begun to rock.
a boy spoke up on a lively day
the monster that was hunting them would rest no more
a girl looked up from within the crowd
but turned away when he saw her without a sound.
the people left back to nailed up, guarded homes
simple prey for creatures who would see them undone
drip drop drip drop whispered rain from overhead
he knew the night had fallen with their hopes instead.
a boy left home on a lonely day
to face the truth his people would call doomed.
he journeyed through the woods to find his fate
even if he lost his heart at any rate.

Trivia
• Fell eventually discovers where Yang is from and pretty much is yanked on a time travelling journey by him. they probably visit multiple times (fell's time, yang's time, and perhaps one far, far in the past?) on the search for the minor time deity
• Potentially this time deity ends up being their friend at one point until they realize that it was them... havent made the character yet so i'm unsure of their intentions, but perhaps they're trying to bring someone back. or perhaps godhood was thrown at them against their will and they're trying to get back to their time. or it could be some self-destructive spiral? idk. i'd like the theme of this arc of sorts to involve fell, yang, and this third character overcoming this problem of like, how fleeting the good moments in life can be with positivity and looking forward to creating new moments? yang struggles with this in trying to escape his own time which wasn't fun, fell struggles with this in his anxiety and being trained to be a royal guard from a v young age (which obviously brings lots of questions and separates him from making friends sometimes), 'villain' will struggle with this as well although they seem like a douche from the beginning. story arc will probably deal with topics like dealing with loss, anxiety, loneliness i guess? i don't want it to get too dark though, only to touch on dark topics when appropriate.

Yang
Fell's newly-assigned partner in the Royal Guard. At first, Yang's calm and seemingly uninterested behaviour rubs Fell the wrong way, until he realizes the cat kemonomimi is a fairly trustworthy individual. From this and their adventures, a budding friendship begins - with both of them relying on each other as friends, and not just partners. Still, some doubt lingers in the back of Fell's mind - if he had been the only youth in the Royal Guard for so long, from where did Yang come from?
Fenrir
A cleric hailing from Elliya's most notable Sanctuary, Fell first encountered Fenrir when he was still being trained by his two mentors. At first, the wolf kemonomimi's aloof, yet calculating nature made him seem unsettling, but then he proved himself a staunch ally in assisting the then-apprentice royal guard with his duties and digging up records related to important cases. Nowadays, though Fenrir and his intentions seem mysterious, Fell counts him as a trusted ally to rely on when in need.
