Ainsley

Dead a few years back, Ainsley is now suspect for murder of his childhood best friend. Forensic teams can tap spirits of the dead to investigate their memories via compatible volunteers, and they do so with Ainsley's ghost. He is matched with an anxious young master's student, Molly, who experiences snippets of Ainsley's memories as if they were friends and he was in them to start with.

Molly falls in love with Ainsley. As it turns out, Ainsley is not the culprit, although Molly's work does settle the case; but it does unsettle Ainsley's ghost. Molly begins visiting the graveyard where he is buried, troubled and mourning for someone he never met, and Ainsley desperately wishes to reach out Molly and tell him he isn't here alone and unknown.

With ghosts on the scene, of course, necromancy is not unheard of (although it is wildly morally contested) and Molly and Ainsley's circumstance piques the interest of the local necromancer, Pierce. They agree to reanimate Ainsley if only because they're curious about the insight it would reveal into the effects of spirit forensics on ghosts' memories - and as it turns out, Ainsley remembers the experience of every single time. He has fallen just as in love with Molly and stays with him while recovering from becoming a zombie.

Despite a frankly comedic case of permanent bad luck, Ainsley is an incredibly sweet, selfless, and warm person. Everything he does is relentlessly positive and he always has a smile to share or a compliment to give. He puts his best foot forward to make a difference and loves unconditionally.
