Richard is amiable but stubborn, and he's not easily swayed from what he believes to be the best approach. He treats his friends well and generously, and is quick to praise. Still, he's anything but soft-hearted, and will not hold back in confrontation (physical or mental). He is competitive, but more in a childish way than a driven way.
Richard is used to finding a way for himself, but not used to being required to take care of other individuals (especially emotionally)- this can make him unreliable, despite his generosity. Even though he is generally charismatic and easily expresses affection, he is actually slow to develop attachment to others and he holds strangers in extremely low value-- tools to be used, rather than friends to be had.
Despite his overall selfish behavior, he self-labels himself as a philanthropist, playing benefactor as suits his fancy.
