Amon is a cursed Bookling whose origins are now lost forever to time.
Rebirthed was an efficient, never-straying beast of justice (or what could be considered such), sworn to come and right the wrongs of crueler mortals. It is one-hundred percent intentional that he should look intimidating and even like the typical reaper of death.
Every little thing is seen by his eyes, and judged... And every little thing can be used against a person's soul.

While there are still bits of his heritage that cling to the way he carries himself- his mannerisms and 'feelings' (such as a gentle touch, a hesitation in his statements or judgments)- it's obvious that he's forever changed, and doesn't look at life the same way an average person would.
His world is now in absolutes, and unless you can avow your wrongdoings, he won't hesitate to reap ones essence away... And naturally, the cost of that would happen to be one's life.
