Hanako "Hana"
"Book Whisperer"
Female
2' 6"
Faebug
Antique Bookshop Owner
Hardworking • Loyal • Stubborn

A Southern Flannel Moth Faebug that grew tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the constant flux of red scribbles, and deadlines. She put her foot down with a power click as she packed her bags and took off to the country side where she rekindled her love for reading for pleasure and opened up her own antique bookstore.

Hanako, often called Hana for short by those closest to her, was once a big name book editor. A life of big money, red scribbles, and deadlines was all she lived for. And for a time she was happy and content with her life. She had always wanted to be an editor since she was very young and her family supported her endeavors.

But through the years of constant red scribbles and the deadlines something inside her snapped! She hated every minute of her life and wanted to escape. Hana no longer enjoyed reading books as she couldn't see passed the desires of the company she worked for--it sickened her! She wanted out and it was in that final moment that she left.

With a power click of her heels and her bags packed, the young Southern Flannel Moth Faebug took off to the country side where no one could find her. She wanted a fresh start in life and she would have it!

The blast of fresh air from the warming country side set her mind at ease and caused her to see the world through new eyes. She felt alive--a feeling she hadn't felt in years. In her escape to the country side she found herself an ancient oak that had once belonged to a family. She could still feel the warmth and love that had settled into the old bones of the ancient oak. She knew this was the place for her to settle down and let her own roots take hold.

It wasn't long until Hana had turned the ancient oak into a split dwelling; her antique bookshop on the first floor while her living quarters were above. Her personal space safely hidden by a spiral staircase from behind the counter in the bookstore. Though the ancient oak was massive in size, Hanako soon learned that she had a hoarding problem with books as several new bookcases had to be crafted in order to house all of her collections.

In time Hanako become known as a mistress in the art of selling, purchasing, and obtaining of various copies of the written word. She loves all books but her favorites are those of ancient texts and what most would consider "trash" by modern ear. Many of these treasures are holed away in a secret collection in her living quarters; while many other written words are kept in her bookstore for others to purchase and give new loving homes to.

There is another that Hanako shares her home, and bookstore, with. A Meowlt, named Screech, that waltzed into her life several years ago. He never left and made the bookstore his home. She has found that he tends to guard their treasures and doesn't put up with horseplay anymore than she does. Hanako has seen the Meowlt screech, hence his name sake, hiss, and scratch beings that come into their home with no manors. Hanako has defended Screech in all situations as she would rather have his company, and her books, over any others.

At night, though, is when Hana can relax as she finds the best place in the house is that of the bay window in her bedroom. It is large enough for her to curl up with a good book, spiced cinnamon tea, and Screech as she reads the night away. Often times finding herself drifting off to the distant past and having a laugh. Sometimes she even thanks those red scribbles and deadlines for pushing her to where she is now: happy, safe, warm, and loving life.
