- big blue eyes, right one is blind
- one ear pierced with a fork and a reflector
- tricoloured mane
›› Arann is a skinny little slip of a thing. Her fur is very dark brown with off white markings. Her nose is black as are the pawpads on her hindlegs. The pawpads on her frontlegs are lighter.
›› Her eyes are blue and very big. The right one is dim and blind.
›› She has a blue mane with brown and black stripes. The mane is short along the neck and grows longer at her shoulders.
›› Her only ear is pierced with a fork and with a safety pin that has a green reflector shaped like a ghost dangling from it.
›› She has strips of leather wrapped around her hindlegs. Their ends are loose and she keeps tripping on them.
›› Arann's mother named her Adèle, but since she was mute, Arann never knew that.
›› The reflector earring is an heirloom from her mother.
›› Arann has an unhealthy view and warped understanding of love, sex, affection and relationships, shaped by her affair with her adoptive father / mentor / boyfriend, and by her co-dependent feelings for her brother.
shy / sweet / manipulative
›› Arann is very quiet, and likes to play dumber and more naive than she actually is. She doesn't necessarily mean bad, but she will do what she thinks is best for her. She is genuinely pretty timid, but she'll also use her unassuming, innocent looks to her benefit in any way she needs.
›› Adèle and her brother Benjamin never found out that their mother had given them names, because their she didn't have a tongue so she could never speak to them. She was an okay mom, although being ashamed of the puppies origin - a violent assault and rape - she didn't like to show them around and kept them pretty well hidden from the rest of the world. The world had given her a lot of shit during her life, so it felt safer to just stay out of sight.
›› The puppies, of course, had no idea of any of this. They were perfectly happy living the way they had always lived - curious and eager to explore. But one day, when they came home from wherever they had wandered off that time, they found out that someone had found their little den and killed their mother. Dead.
›› Confused and scared, the puppies had no idea what to do. Maybe eventually they would've wandered off and learned to survive on their own or maybe they would've also gotten killed, if not for a wolf that for some reason decided to adopt the young siblings. (He was maybe feeling a bit guilty about beating up their mother one time in the past and that's one of the reasons he decided to help the kids.)
›› Squid the wolf named the puppies Arann and Zereum, taught them to speak properly, and started training them. He wasn't the most forgiving teacher (one time he got angry at her incompetence and tore off Arann's ear), but they did learn how to defend themselves and how to be polite and reserved.
›› Arann and Zereum grew up, and her and Squid's relationship took a gross semi-insecestous, and borderline-pedophilic turn, and she became more of a girlfriend than an adoptive daughter to him. Sex ed gone horribly wrong??? Then she become pregnant, and Zereum started dating someone else and their weird symbiotic co-dependent relationship was maybe not what it used to be, and also a tree fell on Squid and killed him.
›› Arann, feeling sad about Squid's death and abandoned by her brother, decided to leave her home island. Who knows where she ended up.
brother
Arann is co-dependently close with her brother

mentor
After their mother died, Squid took Arann and Zereum in, gave them names, and taught them life skills. He's almost like an adoptive father to Arann, but when she grew up she also had a relationship with him (ew).
Arann's feelings towards him are... complicated.

mother
Arann's mother did care for her, even though she couldn't give her children much anything - not even names. Only thing of hers Arann still has is the reflector earring

father
Arann never met her biological father.

An island of Andriaana somewhere in the middle of the ocean, where six canine packs live their lives without human intervention.
Things would be pretty peaceful for the inhabitants of the island, if there weren't the somewhat supernatural religion, Lahko (lit. the sect, the cult), trying to convert everyone - either by choice or by force. There are also those who fight against the Lahkoians.
Lahko has it's own language that you'll automatically learn when you join. You can be either born into Lahko if one or both of your parents are members, or you can be converted by saying a certain prayer in the language of Lahko.
There is no leaving the cult once you've joined. Once you're in, you're in for life and have no choice but to devote your life to Herra, the lord, who demands regular blood sacrifices. Some people prefer to sacrifice pray animals, some turn to sacrificing other canines.
