Alastor

Alastor (or Alice for short) is a B student on average, but the one subject he really excels in is necromancy--which, unfortunately, is a rarely offered and mostly theoretical elective. The fact is, his family was cursed a few generations ago, and their healing magic twisted around until they could only perform death related spells. This has been a blight on the family for the most part, but Alice seems to have embraced it, running around in the graveyard at night and having ghosts slip him answers during exams. 

Unfortunately, this has affected his schoolwork a bit, as all his assignments have to be loopholed somehow so that they're related to death or spirits, and the best he can do in healing classes is to raise failed projects from the dead (which often scares or sickens his more sensitive classmates). But he's determined to graduate, as he's the first in his family to be confident enough to go to school since the curse was laid, and he's determined to be the best he can be .... in a field with less than the usual competition, anyway.

He has a familiar named Tulip, who is a skeletal cat that was buried in the family yard many generations before. She can be collapsed into a pile of bones for easy storage, and where the treats she's fed go, nobody knows.
