Personality:

Rhys is easy-going, optimistic and joyful. Whenever there’s a problem, Rhys acts as if it’s just a minor inconvenience, which he always tries to solve with an innovative solution. He likes to see the good in things, but therefore tends to neglect that people and Pokémon can have bad intentions as well, which makes him naïve.

Rhys loves to meet new people and to hear all about their stories. He enjoys traveling to new places to find new Pokémon, but also new humans to interact with. Friendship is more important to him than battle, and that can be shown by how his Pokémon interact with him and others. Rhys likes to have powerful Pokémon, but doesn’t want to put a lot of effort into it, since he doesn’t want to strain his friends. It is clear that he loves Pokémon, and his drive to keep on going and explore more territory has kept him on his amazing Pokémon journey.

Pokémon:

Derek – Swampert:          Derek - Swampert

Derek is Rhys  first partner Pokémon. Starting out as a Mudkip, these two began their journey in the Hoenn region, immediately sharing a great bond with each other, with similar taste and will for adventure. Derek on the other hand, now is a bit more calm. He still likes to make jokes, but he also shows that he can worry about his teammates and think of a strategy. Derek and Rhys are very complementary to each other.

Excelsia – Fearow:          Excelsia - Fearow

Excelsia is Rhys’ first own-caught Pokémon. A clear case of: “The first thing I see is what I capture”, Excelsia had and still has a very troublesome character. She doesn’t like to follow the standard rules and always wants to show what she's got. She’s bold and rude towards other creatures and likes to be alone. Secretly, Excelsia’s a bit insecure about herself and therefore hates everybody else.

Pirnia – Flareon:          Pirnia - Flareon

Not exactly knowing where she came from, Rhys took care of the Eevee at first, trying to find her owner. After a few days of searching, it became clear she didn’t have an owner, she just liked to cuddle a lot. Something that is rarely a thing with wild Pokémon. Thus Pirnia became part of the team and eventually cuddled a fire stone. Pirnia is very weird. It’s one of the only Pokémon Rhys cannot understand in any circumstance. To be honest, not even other Pokémon can understand what the little Flareon means to say. What they do know, is that she’s a very cute one that likes cuddles. Yes.

Trixie – Gardevoir:Trixie- Gardevoir

Starting as the most curious Ralts ever, Trixie was an extrovert, begging Rhys to take her and show her the world. Quickly evolving into Kirlia didn’t change much. She liked to explore a lot and to say what came to mind. However when Trixie evolved into Gardevoir, she suddenly became very shy towards new people, even her own crew. She has opened up a bit more again and clearly shows that she cares about everyone around her.

Kate – Mightyena:Kate - Mightyena

This is the most extrovert you can get guys. Kate has chords of steel, and the courage of a lion. Rhys found the Mightyena trying to dye her hair pink with the help of berries, which ended up gooey and bad. Rhys instead took her to a barber, which made her look like the most fabulous Mightyena out there. Kate is loud and impulsive, being a bit of a jokester. She tries to motivate everybody to do their own thing, no matter how other people might think of you.

Spalt – Luxray:Spalt - Luxray

Now for Rhys’ last pokémon, a more serious one. Taking a big importance to training and strength. Spalt likes to see himself as the coach of the group, which clearly, he isn’t. He can be quite civil at times. Other times he’s the exact opposite and can be quite rash. Spalt has quite some respect for Rhys, helping Pokémon to train and become stronger versions of themselves, while also questioning his ways of training, for example Rhys having ‘story time at a campfire sessions’, that clearly do not help people with getting stronger.

History:

Rhys started his journey when he was 14. He had been traveling before a lot with his parents, but this was supposed to be his trip on his own, since a lot of kids that were younger than him did that already. His journey started in the Hoenn region, where he has earned a couple of badges, however Rhys constantly got distracted by other stuff to do, other people to meet, so he basically abandoned his badge quest to immediately go to Johto and Kanto instead. Since then he’s been roaming around the place, doing whatever he likes. To an extend that is, as Rhys is part of the ‘Timely Squad’, an organization of more experienced trainers. He can get 'called in' when he's around an area to help out with some issues they need capable trainers for.
