Ghanima's Bulletins

role playing add

Posted 5 months, 30 days ago by Ghanima

Hi! I am a 40+ year old woman who loves reading, writing and being creative. I have a family and a job so I am looking for something lighthearted and not too complicated to plot out. A sense of humor is essential!

I  am looking for a RP partner who can communicate. I want us to be open about the story and our characters, and to be able to talk about it when something is not to your liking.

I like playing multiple characters, and I like doubling up.

I  am looking for someone who is into slow burn, who loves character development. I am looking for someone who is interested in flawed characters, who mean well but make the wrong decisions. Characters who don't always get along that well, and who don't always succeed. I want the relationship between our characters to build up during the role play.

I do NOT do sex scenes or drama with children/pregnancies. Controlling my character is a deal breaker. Please no OP characters and/or overly traumatized edge lords.

I don't do novella but I will give you at least one paragraph or more, depending on how inspired I am. I like to move the roleplay along a little quicker during a dialogue. I think interactions are the best part of a roleplay!

I love writing fantasy. It can be medieval, modern or historic, or even futuristic. I want to do a combination of adventure and slice of life. I  like romance but it has to make sense! I want to feel the chemistry  between our characters, and I don't want it to be the only thing the  roleplay is about. I have straight, bisexual and gay/lesbian characters. Platonic role plays are also welcome.

I have several witch female witch characters I want to play. They are all strong and independent in their own way, but each has their own issues to deal with. You can find them on my Toyhouse acount: https://toyhou.se/Ghanima

role playing with men

Posted 6 months, 13 days ago by Ghanima

I don’t role play with men, as a rule.

Why?
Because the few times I tried, it didn’t work out. Check this out.

- For some reason, I’ve had multiple men who created an insanely powerful character, then complained about every ability my character had. There was even one who insisted my character treated his character like he was weak, despite this obviously not being the case.

- In my search thread, I clearly state I don’t do sex in a role play. Yet, one dude threw a fetish scene into the role play. When I said  don’t do sex in a role play, he told me they didn’t know this was sex.

- Dude has his character display very hostile and sexist behavior towards my female character. (Reason: he didn’t like her outfit…) When my character calls him out on it they say she’s “touchy” and tries to convince me she did something wrong.

- There was this one looser who insulted my character. Multiple times, in the roleplay as well as OOC.

Role playing is a game. It should be fun for both partners. If one partner is an asshole, the other one will stop the game. That should be a no-brainer.

There are good men out there, I’m sure. But it seems like a safer bet to just stick to women as partners, since these are all very extreme things, and no woman has done something like this to me.

Devina

Posted 10 months, 17 days ago by Devina Horne Ghanima

I am still into witches, and lately I felt like creating a morally grey character. I loved morally grey characters, before Raina and Kaylee came along, and I feel like I've not had enough time to find my way with them.
I realized the witches I have all lean towards the good side.

Also, Devina has been in my folders forever, and it was about time I fleshed her out.

I already decided, a while ago, that I would inspire her loosely on Natacha, the witch from Nightbooks. I love how unexpected and flashy she is, and her tragic backstory. I also love her confidence, and how her plans tend to backfire. She's such a fun character.
So I drew Devina a new avatar and I worked on her personality. I finally decided upon a job for her, and even gave her a last name.

I feel she turned out pretty well.

Kaylee and Marielle

Posted 1 year, 1 month ago by Ghanima

I've had a few new ideas for my story.

It has bugged me for a long time, that Raina and Kaylee are sisters (twins, even) and they have the same job. It didn't seem like a thing they'd do.
Raina seems born to be a police agent. I can't imagine her, doing anything else.
Kaylee seems like the type to be able to do almost anything, but I like the idea of her, being with the police, the most. I like the contrast between how she comes across versus her, being actually very skilled and having a very responsible job.

Today I solved the problem; she can be like Arthur Weasley. It seems perfect for her. Being a people-person was always a part of her personality; she'd love dealing with both supernaturals and non-supernaturals. And she'd be good at it.

Another issue I had was with Marielle; she seemed flat, compared to the other characters in the story. Finally I decided to tweak her personality, the main difference being that she's a bit spoiled and egocentric, and that she's not empathic (but thinks she is....). When I told my husband, he said that I already write her that way. Which is true; in the story, she has no clue Raina has a crush on her.

When I created her, I wanted her to be empathic, because Raina has mental health issues. I felt that she'd need someone who could understand. But Raina being the way she is, I don't think that is necessary. She needs someone kind, who has good intentions; sure. She doesn't need someone empathic. She can deal with Marielle, missing clues and misunderstanding her. I think it will make their relationship more interesting.

Sketched Raina and Kaylee story

My current project: a quickly sketched story in a notebook. Perfect  because I have little time, and the sketched style captures the essence  of my ideas...

Here, Kaylee wakes up to find her sister Raina in her bed beside her...

In another scene, Raina has a hangover. I love how well she turned out. Here, she's hugging the toilet while Kaylee is happily babbling.

... And here, Raina is helping Marielle bake cupcakes.

Inked version of Kaylee on the phone

I like how this illustration shows off her personality, even though she's not really doing anything exciting. She's such a fun character to write and draw!

Now I wanna do a similar pic for her sister Raina.

Devina

Posted 1 year, 5 months ago by Ghanima

Devina has been around for a while. I just designed this one pic of her, decided I really liked her and then lacked the inspiration to give her a story. I just knew she was slightly insane in some way. Never even figured out in what time period she lived.

Lately, I re-watched Nightbooks on Netflix and Natacha inspired me to go back to working with Devina.
She seems like a very solitary witch. Someone who lives alone in the forest, and talks only to animals and spirits. I have yet to come up with a background story that explains why she is the way she is. I think she lives in the past, medieval times probably.

She should be fun to roleplay, although I feel it's a waste of time to search for a new partner.

Kaylee and Raina on the beach

I am trying to draw their figures differently. And the best way to start practicing that is by taking them to the beach, right? Raina probably only came because her sister dragged her along.

The differences in their figures would look differently when they are fully dressed, I assume. Kaylee wears pretty revealing clothes, but Raina favors baggy t-shirts.

Kaylee and Raina changes

Posted 1 year, 5 months ago by Ghanima

I have had a few free days, so I spent some time, drawing.

I upgraded their designs a bit. I improved the way I draw their hair. I gave Kaylee a new haircut, and made some changes in Raina's figure, that fit her life style a bit better.

Also, I perfected Raina's background story and behavioral issues. She is the more problematic one, and I wanted a reason for why she is the way she is, and a system to why she acts the way she does. The way I play her, she gets to be problematic but she doesn't suck up all the attention, all the time, so the role play is actually fun for my partner, as well.

I decided to stick with my original idea, and have Kaylee be a police agent, as well. For a while I thought it was lame that they have the same job. So because I could not imagine Raina, doing something else, I figured Kaylee should change jobs. But the truth is, I like the idea of her, being with the police. The core idea, when I created her, was that it was fun to play her as a competent, smart cop, while she acts like a shallow idiot.

It took me only two attempts to produce a sketch of Kaylee on the phone that I am satisfied with. Since I have not spent a lot of time, drawing, in a while, that pleases me a lot.

Kaylee and Raina

Posted 1 year, 7 months ago by Ghanima

I made some changes in Kaylee and Raina's background stories.

I like it that Kaylee seems to be the problematic one, because she's louder and wilder, and Raina seems the quiet, stable one, who has it all figured out. But as they grow older Raina's life gets messier and nobody realises it.
