Two profiles in one week? Scandalous! But I had today off and really wanted to fill out this sick layout again, so here's Justine! She's a WEREWOLF COP who runs a Justice Club at Hell College, which is about as successful as it sounds. Her profile is pretty much the total opposite of Poe's - silly and pretty short - so it makes for a nice palette cleanser!

HELLO FRIENDS EXCITING NEWS I've finally uploaded/finished another profile, whoa!! It's for Poe Blackwood, a more recent OC of mine! It's been so long since I've been active but TL;DR his sister is part of a project called Princess RPG I came up with with my girlfriend, and in Lenore's backstory I decided to give her a brother. He was developed backward from there, and the results were... a real bummer!! The content warning on his profile is no joke, he's gone through some really messed up stuff so please be wary! The warning itself is more detailed, so check that out!

But yeah, it's kind of funny in that he was just sort of a minor background character but he wound up getting a profile before anyone in the series that he's spun off from LMAO but that's OCs for you. This also marks my first controversial upload of someone with no art, ooooooh! Spooooky! I've been thinking about him a ton lately though, and just couldn't resist the urge to write up a profile for him. My priorities will still be on people with art and WIP adopts, but like I concluded last time I won't stop myself from making a profile for someone with only a dollmaker avatar if I REALLY want to make one!

This also marks the debut of my newest layout, by Wicked as usual with loads of tweaks to sate my desire for 10 billion sections. As usual! It has all of the same content sections as the previous layout, but has some new features! Quotes are back, there's a fancy credits section, and there's an entire section dedicated to a weird AU board on a forum I go on so I don't have to have 80 billion tabs lying around! Though maybe I'll make alt characters tabs someday but I Dunno, for now this is a happy medium I think. Unfortunately, tags were lost in the transfer because I didn't want to suffer over trying to code a little box with buttons again, which sounds simpler than it is. I'm considering putting them on the trivia page or something, or maybe if I make Interabang tabs I'll change that section to be a tag section with descriptions of the tags in alphabetical order, but for now I just made the sacrifice. But really I've just been super busy lately so I didn't want to make any more tweaks than I had to since coding can be frustrating and time-consuming; I just wanted to chill out and finally get to making nice beefy profiles again!

On that note, even more exciting is that I finally wrote up an actual stats thing!! Now you're not just stuck with a vague bulletin from months ago!! I haven't edited v6 profiles to link to that yet nor fixed any continuity errors (I deemed some positioning skills too OP and Anthuria's bio still has a CHR stat lying around,) but I'll probably do that eventually. Maybe. I also tag people by element, species, positioning skill, and friendship boost now! Not that you can see it anymore. But that's life for ya. Anyway, feel free to stat your own OCs with this system if you'd like, as long as you link back to that thread it should be cool beans!

Finally, Pleroma in Blue is done being uploaded for now. Totally forgot about Chapter 3, whoops! But check it out! I'll still be writing it, but at a presumably glacial pace since my attention is divided pretty hardcore between a load of things.

Thanks for being able to shut off favorites, I decided to finally make all of my adoptables public! I've always wanted to have them visible for links, image storage, and just letting the creators know where they're at, but I also didn't want to because I hate getting favs on unfinished stuff; I'm fine with people liking my OCs because they look cool, but I'd rather have people use image favs to express that! It's really cool though, now I can just put 'em up with their mini bios from the adoptable waiting room (which is now deleted since it's redundant, rip in peace) and call it a day!

Some of the bios have some old WIP stuff in there, but aside from that the only new things are images (even then those were in the waiting room too, huh,) and links. Love me some links. Nothing super exciting there.

Finally, I started uploading Pleroma in Blue! Despite not having the proper AU bios around I decided to just link the story to their normal counterparts and just move them over whenever I theoretically write said AU bios. Check it out! As a NaNoWriMo novel it's pretty sloppy and extremely unedited; I don't normally proofread super hard anyway because I'm lazy, but during NaNo it's especially bad. So please feel free to point out any typos or other errors!!

There are only three chapters finished so far bc I haven't written in like a week, but I'd like to continue it beyond NaNo anyway. I'll be uploading one chapter a day or maybe every other day just to kinda stagger things out a bit; after that chapters will be uploaded whenever they're finished!

I think that's about it, I'll get around to responding to comments on my last bulletin within the next couple of days hopefully! But the Hell Gauntlet of work and exam studying has begun, so who knows...

This is a really long bulletin so here's a TL;DR: I've been super inactive because of life stuff and while I'll try to check in more, things are still gonna be pretty busy through New Year's at least, I imagine. I've cleared out all of my notifications since Mid-July, so if you pinged me anywhere and/or had any important bulletins/news that you'd like me to see PLEASE let me know about it because it's all been deleted! HELLO FRIENDS you may have noticed I haven't been very active lately, and by lately, I mean, uh... since July, according to my last bulletin? Oh. That's even worse than I thought. Whoops.

As I think I alluded to a little in previous bulletins, this is mostly because I've been going through a lot of life changes these past couple months!:

• I quit my old hell job at Wal-Mart and work at Best Buy now, which is significantly nicer, pays me more, and gives me vastly more hours. That also means I was finally able to afford a car since now I have enough money coming in to pay off bills for that every month. I also got my license!! Finally!! Gosh I can't believe how long I've gone without saying anything on this dang website
  
  
• HOWEVER I'm still looking for a full-time job because my new deadline for moving out is January 1st, and it turns out there aren't the opportunities for advancement here that I thought there would be by now since there's only supposed to be one full-time merch person and my store already has two. It's a shame because Best Buy is a really nice place to work, but it's also physically exhausting since it involves walking around, lifting things, climbing ladders, bending, crouching, cleaning, etc. for 4-8 hours, usually 7 for the past few weeks, and I'm about to go into a gauntlet from Sunday-Tuesday with all 8-hour shifts and a 7-hour one tomorrow. Which is great for my wallet! But oof ouch me legs. It's a big reason I haven't been as active, because even on shorter days and even though I've been there since the start of August I'm so tired when I get home that I just crash and take a nap. Then I wake up at night and have to rush to finish homework and do other daily stuff and then I have to hurry up and go back to bed because I get up at 5:00 in the morning every day. 4:30 on Sundays! Also I never have any weekends which has been particularly killer; I'll have scattered single days off but as it turns out you really need that second day to get anything done, that first day is all about relaxing tbh. Having a full-time job with a consistent schedule would be great, I'm just having a hard time finding one, especially one that I'm actually qualified for.
  
  
• I'm in my final class of college, ever!! But unfortunately despite being a one-day-a-week class it's probably the most brutal class I've had in my entire life. In fact, the workload for this single class is probably more than the total workload I've had in any other given semester. I regularly spend 3 hours a night on homework for this one single class I need to graduate, not counting any studying I need to do; filling out the vague study guide we got for the first exam got mine to 13 pages long and I have the next exam on Wednesday which is gonna be a REAL pain given the whole 8-hour gauntlet that doesn't end until, well, the day of the exam. Cool beans!!!! Please help me I am dying
  
  
• As I think I mentioned before about a year ago a lot of old friends of mine got back together and we started forum RPing again, so most of my spare time has gone toward keeping up on that. Not that I or most of us have been super active lately bc we're all old and trapped in capitalist hell workin all day and then being too tired/still busy afterward to make the posts but when this semester is over I'm gonna bully 'em so hard. But that's where my writing/OC energy tends to end up instead of making bios/playing forum games.
  
  
• I've actually been in a real profile mood though but time aside I just haven't been able to find a layout that rly speaks to me that I don't have to mess around w/ CSS for a day or two to get ready for my OCs... I have like 3 diff templates purchased and my current one is fine but I feel like it ends up being kinda hard to read a lot of the time thanks to transparency but tl;dr it's not something I can change super easily since the source of the transparency is an image rather than part of the box's CSS. Which really just means I could make a less transparent image or just a blank white one BUT YOU GET IT I'm very lazy. But I dunno, I like things with sidebars and I have like two neat ones but there's so much tweaking I gotta figure out how to do so it ends up sapping my motivation bc I just wanna get to the part where I plug stuff in...
  
  
• dragalia lost is fun and i also have to slog through playing feh on not one, but two phones bc i thought an alt account would be fun and IT WAS it's reward units only so ive made some astounding SI decisions but most of my friends are rly down on feh lately for many reasonable reasons which kills my excitement so now it's a chore doing the same dailies on two accounts AND playing another mobile game that's heavy on the dailies and requires you to actually play due to being an ARPG rather than a turn-based thing that i can slam that autobattle button on. but rly mobile games take up a disappointing amount of time in my life but they're fun and cute and i like to imagine oc aus in their verses ;_; life goal make an oc gacha game
  
  
• I've been doing NaNoWriMo! Haven't posted anything here yet because it's about versions of Dicro and Istra from an AU board we have on our RP forum, and they're both different enough characters that I'm debating if I should make them some profiles first. I haven't even posted anything on DA or Tumblr for some reason, either. Just... really lazy these days. I'll probably get around to it eventually, though, even though I haven't written a thing in like a week. Work sucks!! School suck!!

I think that's about it! Just a lot of different things eating into my time and, more importantly, my precious few spoons. I've gotten like 3 different PMs about my forum games over the past couple months and I haven't even done a dang thing about them bc I just. Never have the energy to do anything anymore. It sucks!!!!!!!!

Even though I won't have much free time for still quite some time yet (I inexplicably don't work my retail job on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, or even Saturday despite being available so I do at least have a mini-vacation assuming I don't get called in; we're apparently over on labor hours and I've already got 24 hours scheduled for me next week so that doesn't seem super likely... not complaining though obviously lmao) I still wanted to make this bulletin because it's been an egregiously long time since I've said or done anything around here. I'm in charge of a couple threads and used to be pretty active, so I'd at least like to have something on my profile that people can look at and go "oh, that's where Iso went, it's not because she quit Toyhouse or something!"

I also wanted to let everyone know that I've cleared out all of my notifications!! Character notifs were around 5,000, I had like 300 bulletins sitting in there, and my forum notifications were almost 50 pages long - WAY too many to even skim through to see if I got a ping. As such, if you've had any important news or you've pinged me in anything or something's gone on in one of my threads since mid-July or so, I have no idea about it, so please tell me about it if possible!

And yeah! That's pretty much it, gotta go make some rolls now for Fakesgiving(tm) since my family won't be in one place for Thanksgiving. I'm cool with that tho bc I pretty much only eat like rolls and corn and dessert anyway :thinking:

howdy folks this is several days late but I've got a SHINY NEW WRITE that I'm pretty proud of! It's called Maple Manor Murder Mystery and it's a MYSTERIOUS MURDER MYSTERY that isn't all that mysterious at all if you ask me, but there's definitely murder. It involves some of my favorite OCs to write with (when will I make Nette a profile here wtf,) a bunch of my friends' OCs, some creative applications of Dicro's abilities, and a fight scene you can really only get from a guy like Dicro. It's also got some Jokes(tm) and perhaps some actual mysteriousness later on, so give it a read! I'll love you forever!!

Other stuff! On my last bulletin people mostly voted that I should upload characters w/o "proper" art, so I'll try not to fight myself too much if I end up really wanting to make a profile before a given character has art. They'll still be lower priority, though, since I'm still gonna be biased toward the ones with icons that'll get 'em the Sick Viewz. I swear I'll actually complete another profile someday rip I'm so behind

I'm behind on a bunch of other notifications, too, so hopefully I'll be able to work on my backlog sometime soon; if all else fails I'll just clear up everything aside from literature submissions cuz I live to validate writers. I'm also still in Art Fight and have a bunch of revenges planned, just haven't had too much time for art between a bunch of graduation parties, job hunting, preparing for a garage sale, and working on Driving Skillz. Hopefully I'll have some time to draw more before Art Fight ends, though; if I can just get myself up in the actual morning it'll help my productivity a lot! wish me luck me friends

...OCs of mine who don't have art, instead just having dollmaker images and/or my own rough doodles? I know that might sound like a silly question, but hear me out here. As a creator, it's of course my priority to show off my stuff, and having people look at it is really meaningful to me even if it's a silent fav or just a vote on a poll on a bulletin about an OC which means that maybe they looked at them!

Because of my thirst for validation, though, it leads to me to stressing out a lot about art. Toyhouse is a very art-oriented website, and things go by so quickly that if your OC doesn't catch someone's eye it makes it THAT much harder to get someone to read your profiles. But I've noticed characters who lack art or who only have dollmaker images tend to get very little attention; I don't think I've ever seen one with more than, like, 3 favs, and one of those favs is probably from me since I'm biased toward validating people whose struggle I feel... and if you don't have any images at all, much less an avatar? Oof.

It's not like I don't get it - if I like the look of a stranger's character's avatar of course I'm gonna be more likely to click on them - but it kinda sucks!!! I've never seen a character with a dollmaker avatar or no avatar up on the featured page before, and I know a lot of my friends even hesitate to use the site at all if they don't have art for their OCs even though it's not like they're gonna get run out of town for having the default TH avatar. But a lot of these characters are really awesome and have some seriously sick profiles and end up getting swept under the rug because having no or a "generic" avatar makes them less intriguing. Again, I get it, and I'm not trying to shame anyone here who favs characters purely for the art/design! Toyhouse was made by the adopt community for the adopt community, and there's nothing wrong with caring about art/design over profile content! It's just rough for those who struggle with art/can't afford commissions to get their cool OCs some attention.

So, we arrive at my dilemma! Over the years I've spent a lot of money on commissions; back in ye olden days of 2016 I'm pretty sure I was spending more than I was making! Not to mention it feels like every time I order one I end up waiting for months (even over a year in several cases,) I'm working on moving out so I'll have a lot of expenses soon, my art isn't the best and unclear refs lead to results that aren't always true to the design/character... it's a struggle!! And I hate having to spend so much money just so I can upload an important character I've had for 10 years!!! I really do!!!!! And while if I spend some effort I can sometimes make art of certain OCs I find acceptable as avatars, drawing takes me an excruciatingly long time even for simple stuff. Even shabby doodles can take over a half hour and I'm guaranteed not to be too happy with those.

This means I utilize dollmakers like DreamSelfy, Rinmaru, Kisekae to have some kind of visual representation of my OCs, sometimes settling for hasty sketches just so I can make an avatar of them for RP purposes. I'm not exactly short on these; according to my storage account I have 414 characters with some kind of image, and I just realized I forgot to upload two more people whose DreamSelfies I made recently! The number of OCs I have who are adopts/have fancy art is maybe a quarter of that, and there are still plenty OCs of mine who have 0 visual representations at all (mostly the poor saps with the misfortune to be nonhuman or have a body type that doesn't fit into most dollmakers.)

Basically, I have a lot of OCs who I'm really passionate about, who are important, who are overdue for a profile, and/or who I could write up a profile for quickly... but under normal circumstances this requires having the spoons and spending the time it takes to make a ref, then spending money on a commission, waiting, and praying it comes out right so I don't have to buy another one and wait for THAT to be completed, all just so I can feel comfortable uploading a character. Look at my newest-uploaded friends alone, I could crank out half of their profiles in 5 minutes because I'm in such a mood for them right now!! It's torture!!!!!

I'm just at a point where I'm wondering if I should stop caring about images and write the profiles I feel like writing when I feel like writing them, even if I only have a dollmaker image or a sketchy mess to represent them. It would be kinda liberating, but at the same time I don't know how much of the clicks I get from my followers are based on art/design. I don't want to make people less willing to follow me because I stop uploading as much neat art, and likewise I don't want to spend hours working on profiles that no one will give the time of day.

So, basically, do you think I should start uploading whatever I want whenever I want to work on them? Or do you think it's in my best interests to wait until I can grab some art to advertise my OCs with? Are you disinterested in OCs who just have dollmaker images? Do you care if avatars are sketchy/sloppy? Do you relate to my problem and/or are having the same struggle? Have you had success with getting your dollmaker-made OCs some attention?

Be honest with your votes/comments; I'm not going to be offended if everyone's like "yeah sorry I probably won't click on your OC if they're just some DreamSelfy." Like I said, I get it! It's like with food: you taste with your eyes first, so if you don't like what you see of course you're not gonna be too eager to dig in. It's better that you let me know that than lying and watching me sob quietly and I never get a fav on anything ever again.

Likewise, again I want to emphasize it's okay to just fav OCs because you like their design/art, I don't want to come off as some elitist who thinks your OCs are trash if they don't have a 100k word profile or that you're shallow if you don't read profiles before faving! i'm paranoid alright i've seen people get aggressive about this kind of thing from both sides and i am just a small baby

Note that either way this probably won't have too much of an impact on my profile-uploading speed; aside from generally not wanting to put out more than one profile per day as part of my Sick Stratz To Make People Look At My Donuts(tm), I'm still pretty busy and also lazy. I probably would more often because I could do more profiles spur of the moment, but you know how spoons can be. Furthermore, it's not like I have any shortage of OCs who DO have art that I want to work on... my adoptable waiting room profile is still pretty stuffed! So it's not like by saying no you're dooming me to never upload anything again, nor are you bullying me into spending my hard-earned money on Sweet Toyhouse Clickz(tm) or something.

i guess i can just put "/edit" at the end of the profile's url and find things from there but thats. awful. it Really Sucks!! why can't toyhouse just let me have my cool clicky layouts in peace!! i don't see them changing anything abt this since i haven't seen anyone complaining, so i guess i either have to deal with never being able to conveniently access anything again or waiting for another css theme i like to come along and dropping money on it and spending forever modifying it to fit my 10 million sections and Augh

on the plus side unlike other incidents of my layouts getting horribly broken it looks like profile v6 looks perfectly fine to viewers (the only issue is the drop-down menu hiding behind everything so I can't click on any of the options,) so i won't need to spend 20 years upgrading everyone to a new layout to be readable. not that i even did that with all of the poor ocs of mine with the horribly broken layouts yet but Uhhhhh you know. so i might continue working on profiles (astor is the winner atm so i'd start working on him next and switch to piove if i can't get over his backstory snag) but i might just call it quits for now and focus on catching up on literature submissions and comments or something... maybe do some writing myself. and if some new css that includes the sidebar comes up or a fix comes out or something along those lines then i might get back to profiles sooner

or maybe i'll procrastinate on sending emails all day, who knows???

also it's rly annoying how you can't permanently expand the menus... like if you refresh you have to open the other menus again and i hate that shit folks i want Everything Out At Once All The Time and it was nice that the previous manage characters menu would be permanently open or closed when you opened/closed it. im salty folks i admit it, i'm grade A sodium chloride. clenches fist!!!!!!

HOWEVER i do love being able to change character pagination as implied by my desire to have Everything Out At Once All the Time! i only wish i could view even more characters per page....... but 72 is much better than before

As promised, here's the next profile poll now that the two top winners of the last poll have new profiles! It's just the old one but with fewer options, really:

• 1) Astor  //  A member of the Discitus Union, a group that seeks all of Entirety's  knowledge. He's a sparkly bishonen who charms everyone he sees, but the  truth is that he's actually a huge dork and a nerd who just gets away  with roleplaying as a handsome prettyboy. I love him a lot and he's been  showing up in RP stuff a lot, so I'd really like to get some info out  about him! The poor thing's been hidden for almost two years! But  there's a snag in his backstory (why his angry demon bird Qamar stays by  him and how they even met) that might hold me up and keep me from  finishing his profile entirely.
  
  
• 2) Haruto  //  An angel who seems so kind and selfless that it almost seems  suspicious. But it's all real! He doesn't know a thing about himself, he  just woke up one day, grabbed a name off of Google, and went to go nice  to people all around the world. That's it, that's his entire character.  Needless to say a profile of his would be fairly brief, but probably  also unsatisfying since you pretty much just read the whole thing now.  He's being used in RP now, but he's just not important enough of a  character to be a high priority for a profile. He's a cute boy with a  decent amount of art, though, and maybe I'd come up with more stuff from  writing about him as I often do. But maybe it'd be best to wait until  he's developed more.
  
  
• 3) Karina Cirice  //  A mysterious, shy girl who worships "the Lurking God," to whom she  shows a large amount of devotion and reverence to... it's to the extent  that it almost seems like a relationship. I'm really fond of her, she's  involved in an RP thread, her design and art are great, but I'm having  trouble deciding if I should keep her in the setting she's involved in  or if I should make her some kind of independent Void Cult person. That  setting is kind of a mess in general, so either way I'm going to  struggle a lot with backstory and relationships.
  
  
• 4) Larya Tayl  //  Larya already has a profile!  She does need to be updated to the newest profile layout, though. She's  one of my oldest and most prominent OCs so she's not undeserving of a profile revamp, but since she already has a technically finished profile  she's pretty low-priority. It might be quick to insert her into the new  layout, but maybe not... there's a lot of stuff I'd have to add, and  that's time that could be spent on a profile for someone who doesn't have one yet. But maybe it Would go fast and I could get to work on a  new profile pretty fast while finally having revamped hers??
  
  
• 5) Piove Fontana  //   The daughter of two professors at Hell College: a human and a water  slime. Needless to say, her anatomy is kind of a mess and the older she  gets the more her human bits start dissolving away. She's incredibly  anxious about it, worried that soon her mind will be eaten up too and  she'll become a slave to her monster instincts. I really like Piove a  lot (and her dads but neither have art or even proper refs bc i can't  fuckin draw RIP) and I've put a lot of thought into her, so filling  everything out would take time but wouldn't be too hard. But she's a  fairly new character who hasn't been used in RP, writing, nor is she an  adopt (I generally prioritize adopts for profiles so people don't think  I'm hoarding them + I can show them off to their creators,) so she might  be a weird choice to pick over the others.
  
  
• 8) Xelly Cherata  //  A spider-alien who's involved in the ever-deadly NEBULA DEATH RACE. As  in I created her (character-wise, design-wise I doodled her up a while  back) specifically for someone's RP thread that never really took off bc  the person kinda stopped RPing. So... her profile would be really  minimal and it'd be kinda weird to make one for her at the moment since  she's such an insignificant character, just kinda floatin' around in the  void. She's also original etc. etc.

Like before you can vote based on their lil bio snippet, based on whose design/art you like the best, based on what you think is smartest for me based on my comments, just totally randomly... it might help me come to a decision, so I'd appreciate it!
