There exists a place called the Crossroads, where Realities have collided and dimensional rifts open up every day to drop in the helpless. It's a chaotic place, but not necessarily lawless. It's ruled over by the Heads: various self-made monarchs who have built and maintained Kingdoms that they preside over. Very few of the Kingdoms get along well, leading to constant conflicts as the Heads war over how the Crossroads should be ruled and who should get control over new territory.
If that wasn't enough to worry about, a mysterious man known as The Immortal Guillotine, Aphelion has awakened and declared his intent to kill all of the Heads for reasons unknown. Considering the past several times he's awakened he's succeeded, all of the Heads are on edge, aware that now they have yet another party out for their blood...
Deius Noceur - an omniscient and thus popular informant - and his associates. They're technically unaligned... but who's going to mess with them?
Residents of the Crossroads who swear no allegiance to any Kingdom or are too publicly distrusted to be welcomed into any.
Ruled over by Blood King Langelotte Haemondias, the Blood Kingdom is home to creatures of the night. It primarily hosts vampires - especially as the population of them has boomed - but it also welcomes other beings who are ostracized or misunderstood due to their unsavory needs. The Blood Kingdom has close ties to the Viscera Princess-slash-Kingdom Diastole, and due to their alliance they are typically lumped together.
Ruled over by Destruction Magnate Benthaeus Hellview, the Destruction Kingdom houses massive beasts and forces of destruction. They're the cause of much of the chaos in the Crossroads, and their belief that might makes right makes them highly disliked by the other Kingdoms. While their propensity for devastation has left them unpopular, the Destruction Kingdom itself is tight-knit and Benthaeus does not take slights against his people lightly.
Ruled over by Ephemeral Majesty Perselié Misericordia, the Ephemeral Kingdom lives up to its name. It's a quiet, glowing kingdom of luxury where one seems to exist in a state of dreaming. It's the drug capital of the Crossroads, where one can find just about any experience they can imagine and then something more behind it. While lacking in offensive might, its residents are crafty, charismatic, and valuable enough to keep the Kingdom from being snuffed out.
Ruled over by Vibrance Lord Azimuth Azimech, the Vibrance Kingdom is a glittering entertainment center with an atmosphere not unlike Vegas: glitz, grime, and crime. It's all bright lights and activity, making it easy for people to lose themselves. It's a difficult place to live, what with the total lawlessness and the Vibrance Lord's penchance for hosting... unorthodox events.
Ruled over by Sea Monarch Meris, the Sea Kingdom is the largest Kingdom in all of the Crossroads. The Sea Monarch has domain over all aquatic life, nigh unstoppable due to the inability of the other Kingdoms to invade a nautical world. Thus the Sea Kingdom is considered a mystery to most of the Crossroads... well, until one realizes that it's the Sea Kingdom that makes up the majority. The other Heads are careful to avoid angering the Sea Kingdom.
As a cultural rule, all inhabitants of the Sea Kingdom go by sie/hir/hirself pronouns. The exception is the Sea Monarch, who is granted the usage of se/ser/serself pronouns.
Ruled over by Cyber Lord Tessel8, the Cyber Kingdom is a burgeoning Kingdom that exists entirely electronically. Its members consist of advanced AIs, rebellious appliances, sentient programs, and robotic entities, all united under the banner of mischief and dominance.
Ruled over by Aether Sovereign Ivora Esthetica, the Aether Kingdom is an unusual one. It consists of the afterlife and realm of the undead, home to spirits and beings of mysterious nature. It's not quite a physical place and is poorly understood by most of the Crossroads, many residents not even believing it exists, but any Head worth their salt knows it's important to maintain strong relations with the Aether Sovereign.
