Gaia Online Pets: It's Happening

Posted 3 years, 6 months ago by MeganFantastic

Well I've started uploading some of my old Gaia pets.  I'm linking to old pet shop threads whenever possible.  I'm going to message shop owners IF I think it's viable (as in, have they logged into Gaia in the last few years) so that if they want designs credited to a DA account or something, they can give me their URLs.  If I can't find any recent footprint for a shop owner/artist I'm just providing whatever names or links I can.

My plan is to eventually revamp everything into generic non-closed species.  So a unique vaguely reptilian creature will become just a 'dragon,' for example.  From there I'll probably develop them further into something unique and separate from their original designs.  The goal is to create some unique characters that I could post without their origins, and you wouldn't know what they started as.  I WANT to have their origins preserved because I like them, but if I'm asked to remove the association with Gaia pets, I'll still have an original character of my own that simply started with a seed of inspiration.  It sounds shady when I say it out loud, but that's WHY I'm saying it out loud, so that nobody has to wonder what I'm up to.  There's no scheme, just a lot of great old designs that I want to use outside of the Gaia context.

I'm making a bulletin about it so that there's a clear message of my intent, in case anyone randomly stumbles across their art in my Toyhouse.  If I've posted something from your old Gaia shop and you don't want it here, let me know so I can remove your content.

Oh, and rest assured that my old Gaia pets are NEVER for sale.

Mass uploading and editing of old adoptables

Should I spam my entire Gaia adoptables folder

Sorry for having spammed my 'To Revamp' folder with a bunch of old Deviantart finds that I need to keep records of.  Sorry for the future where I may do the same for things I picked up on Flight Rising.

I will PROBABLY not ever do a mass upload of old Gaia Online adoptables because it would be impossible to source them.  So that's a small mercy.

The plan currently is to curate the 'Sparkledogs' folder into a nice stable of template samplers that people can ask for adopts on.  Which was always sort of the plan for them, but I'll ask for writing instead of DA points.  I may also want to write up a basic setting description for their world.
