Chetan does his best and Slate appreciates his efforts. He's quit stubborn, more so like his mother than the bird man, so he really has to watch after this boy the best he can. Excited to see just what sort of man he grows up to become. Knowing full well he'll race the "old man" till he collapses he usually tries to take it easy on him.
The baby of the siblings. Chetan doesn't really have much of a goal in life yet, except to be able to finally out fly his old man GDI WHAT THE HECK YOU HAVE TO BE CHEATING
Ame was his first and only love. Since the moment they met he believed he had found the one. And thanks to his stubbornness, won her over in the end. They have been together through so much and he is forever grateful for this fearless woman sticking by his side through it all. Knowing she can more than handle herself he still to this day does his best to protect her.
While she can be a bit shy about her affection for this bird boi, she loves him as openly as she can. They've been through Hell and High water, battled through desserts, scaled mountains and crossed oceans in the name of making a better future for their world and she couldn't think of a better person to enjoy the fruits of their labor with than him.
Griffin was Ame and Slate's first adopted child. And because of his circumstances he might have shown the baby boy a bit more attention than his own children growing up. Regardless Slate brought Griffin up no differently than he had his own children, making sure he was prepared for the volatile world they were growing into. Eventually he saw him fit to take over Slate's position as the Oracle of Shadow. While the decision wasn't made lightly and threatened his relationship with his eldest daughter, he thought it best in the end.
Griffin feels a kinship to Slate. He sees slate as his father but he feels that he can further relate to Slate since they're both adopted. That helped a lot growing up knowing that he had someone who he could go to that understood how hard it can be. While lacking the genetic inheritance of magic abilities that his siblings have, he wants to live up to the legacy of his parents as a well-educated warrior of justice. or maybe just an architect if the world manages to calm down a bit...
His eldest daughter grew up as if she were his shadow. Seeing so much of himself in her sort of scared him. He didn't want that life for her or any of his children, but he was sure to give them the tools they needed to kick butt and take names. His decision to give his sage hood to his adoptive son was not made lightly, but it was for the best. Knowing it would take time for Odette to understand he hoped she would in time.
Odette completely Idleized her father in her younger years. working hard to emulate him in every way possible to the point it probably wasn't healthy. While her 'perfect image' of him shattered when Slate picked Griffin as his successor instead of her, resulting in her angsty teenage breakdown. She still holds a great level of admiration for her dad. that shattered perfect image helped her realize that it was ok to have flaws. it was ok for HER to have flaws, to be different and unique. and she's grateful for his patience.
Slate is very proud of the young man his son has grown up to become. Despite bickering closer to siblings, thanks to some time skipping by the Time Oracle, than an adult and their child he is trying to better fit the role of Father. While he can't help him with his duties as an Oracle, he can be a combat instructor. Which he is diligent about because of past experiences.
Despite the rather frequent teasing about his father's age (calling him pops and old man) Phoenix holds a large amount of respect for his father. He grew up hearing the stories of Slate and Ame pulling off what should have been impossible, fighting as rebels and risking their lives, all in the name of freedom. He wants to be someone that lives up to that legacy and fill his role as an oracle in a way that would make his father proud. by protecting those that can't protect themselves.
Like all his children he loves Roc, but wishes he'd made time to spend more time with him. It was a bit difficult since Roc was the most quiet of the kids and his interests were a mystery to the man. However he hopes to strengthen the bonds he didn't when his son was younger.
Roc loves his dad as much as the next sibling but, does acknowledge that he's maybe not as close with his dad as the others since there was usually plenty of work to be done and with two war hero parents in political positions, running a village and an inn, and 5 siblings Slate's attention was in high demand and often short supply.
not that they didn't spend time together they did, they just didn't have as many opportunities to connect.
Ruby is his precious little princess and totally has Daddy wrapped around her finger. He's protective of her and loves her dearly. It's near impossible for him to say no to her.
Ruby loves getting to help out with the local animals. while not as big of a fan of hunting as her dad she does like getting to work with the livestock and take care of the animals that won't end up being dinner. what do you mean they're all dinner... can we please just keep ONE... PLEEEEAAAASE.
Bram is difficult to get along with, but thankful for such a forgiving brother. While he usually runs head first into danger without a second thought it's only because he knows Nim will be there to back him up if he needs it.
Nim is very protective of his brother, it was hard enough losing one. He won't lose Bram too, even if the blue wonder is making that extremely difficult.
Ian isn't quite what she expected when it came to meeting another dragon. He was fearless, brazen, and kind of dumb. Especially with risk taking. However due to what they've found to have in common she's grown to actually like the goof.
Meifan is the first dragon that Ian has seen in a LONG time. He's been in hiding for so long it feels like he's forgotten how to properly socialize with a fellow dragon. Seeing her enjoy the same books as him makes him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
They had a rocky beginning, but after a lot of trial and error, and a faithful moment of sticking up for one another they've learned to work well together. Nell's fondness for Reiley grew from there and eventually became mutual. She is protective of him and as their positions on either side of the war has become questionable, she is happy to have someone like him by her side.
His partner in crime, in really every sense of the word. They eat together, sleep together do crime toget- I MEAN totally follow the law to the letter together. While Nell only came into his life a few years ago he couldn't imagine his life going forward without her by his side.
